I have the 9000, who’s is probably basically identical, I love it, I wanna get a trifuel conversion kit so I can keep propane & gas for emergencies, besides that I bought the battery & the large wheel & handle kit & I’m not planning on changing anything else, hope you like yours also

I make sure to shut off the fuel line and let the engine die between uses as the carburetor needed to be replaced when gas sat in it too long. No issues since then and I also make sure to start up the generator a couple of times a year to push some fresh gas through the system. Do you have a link for the trifuel conversion kit?

I have the same generator, tried to do my quarterly test and it sound like the starter is just spinning, makes a whirring sound. Did start via pull rope. Any suggestions other than pulling the starter, battery is fully charged. Thanks.

why don't people ground theirs? out of all the videos i seen you did ground it and all the rest did not. if i am using this for only emergencies like 6 times out of the year and i am plugging in extension cords and not directly to a panel to the house do i still need to ground it? i just got mine today but i am not sure. let me know and thank you for your time!

I have a PREDATOR 7000/8750 generator. Fired it up and started fine. Within 5 minutes, motor was running fine, but it stopped generating power. Once it's cool you can repeat this. It's hooked to a pump, and pumps for 5 minutes, you can hear the RPMs change and the water stops. All the pump tests are normal.
@MountainManMo
@MountainManMo 10 ай бұрын
What is the power consumption of the pump? I think the 120 v outlets are fused for 20 amp max and the 240 v at 30 amps.

I think I found the problem with the pump and not the generator. Thanks@@MountainManMo

Can you add a battery for an easier start??? To the 6500 predator

I am not sure. Look for the two wires to hook up the battery. If it has them you should be able to hook it up.

Mine won't start due to something electrical. Battery and switch is good so I have no clue. It's a shame because it's never been left out in the weather and hasn't got many hours on it.

I assume that you have over 12.4 V on the battery and the terminals are set up with the negative to negative wire etc. Is the fuel line open, the carburetor set to start position, with fresh gas in the tank? I have had issues starting in the past and it was an issue with gas sitting in the carburetor for too long. A temporary way to start it was to spray ether in the intake of the carburetor until the engine was warmed up. I still needed to replace the carburetor but it got me through a power outage.

If it has been several months since starting it could be bad gas or water in the gas and draining it and using fresh gas may help. If the last time it was used and gas was left in the carbonator the carb would likely be the issue and could be messed up which can be fixed by taking it apart and rebuilding it, replacing it, or for a quick temporary fix use ether in the air intake of the carb to start / warm up the engine then it can usually run in a pinch. Read the warnings on the ether, the carb cleaner does not work as well to start the engine as the ether does. Also, check that the on/start button is in the right position, the fuel line is open, and the choke is in the right position before starting. Using a battery to start is much easier than the pull cord in my experience if you have a car battery.

Does it have to be grounded to start
@MountainManMo
@MountainManMo 3 жыл бұрын
From a safety perspective it should always be grounded. I just drove a metal rod into the ground. It should start without grounding, but it would not be a good or safe way to operate the generator.
@edygonzalez7809
@edygonzalez7809 3 жыл бұрын
Why you use the ground for?
@MountainManMo
@MountainManMo 3 жыл бұрын
The ground wire goes to the ground to prevent electrical charge from building up. The ground wire goes literally to a metal stake that is driven into the ground to dissipate the electrical charge, for safety reasons.

Were you get gas that is non ethanol ?
@MountainManMo

I use high octane gas which still has ethanol and add a fuel stabilizer. The only places that I have seen that may sell non ethanol gas are usually at boat launches / marinas.

If you have a wawa near you, they sell non ethonal gas. As well as some gas stations, but not all will sell it. Just ask the has attendant. It's also non as recreational fuel. Hope this helps

Does generator charge the battery for starting?
@MountainManMo
@MountainManMo 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the generator recharges the battery, but remember to run the generator every month or so for 30+ min to keep the battery charged and make sure everything is running for when you need it. Also do not let fuel sit in the carburetor between uses as this is the common issue with small motors. Just turn off the fuel valve and run the generator until the remaining fuel in the line is gone. Try not to let gas sit too long in the fuel tank to avoid issues with old gas and use a fuel stabilizer.

@@Stihl4life Don’t forget about the generator safety rules: Always make sure you follow all the generator safety rules whenever you use your portable generator. This is only a reminder. Generators can be dangerous if not used carefully. Every year, hundreds of people die or get injured when using portable generators due to carbon monoxide poisoning and electrocution. Make sure you are using your generator carefully and keeping others safe as well. There is something very serious that everyone should always be aware of when using generators. Some people do run their generator indoors which is not safe and that increases the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning which can cause death of family and you. Some people run their generator in wet conditions which can electrocute them. Please remember that you should never run your generator indoors. Remember that carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that you cannot see or smell. Carbon monoxide is a silent killer. Keep that in mind. Make sure your generator is 15-20 feet away from your house and away from doors, windows, and vents. Never use your generator in your porch too. Having a carbon monoxide detector is very important against generator safety. Some people also allow children to go near the portable generator which could pose risks. We need to keep an eye on our children making sure that they are not near the portable generator so they won’t get electrocuted or burned by the generator which is dangerous. A locking enclosure also keeps kids safe. A generator shed might look like a tempting place to explore, or take cover during a game of hide and seek, but a generator is a dangerous piece of equipment that can cause injury. It says on the manual that we should also keep children away at all times from the portable generator to avoid injuries. Please do not allow a child or unqualified people to operate the portable generator. It is important to keep your children safe especially little ones. The portable generator can be hot during an operation. Just because some manuals missed what should be listed doesn’t mean it’s safe to do. Always follow the generator safety rules when using portable generators. Generators pose electrical risks. If you need to use your generator during wet weather, you need a generator tent to protect your generator from getting wet. Don’t let your generator get wet. Keep your generator dry and before using your generator, please make sure your hands and your generator is dry. Do not wear loose clothing when operating the generator. Everything that is said on the generator’s operating manual should not be ignored. Never smoke cigarettes near the generator. Please keep flammable things away from the generator. Never overload your generator too. Your generator can catch fire. Never ever try to plug a generator cord into a wall outlet to avoid back feeding. Back feeding your generator is dangerous. Always turn on your generator first before plugging in appliances and shut off the appliances before turning your generator off. Use a heavy duty cord for your generator and the cord should not be worn out. All the instructions should be followed carefully. Never refuel your generator while it’s running. It can cause fire if fuel spills while your generator is hot. You should turn off your generator and let it cool off before refueling it. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important. This is only a reminder for everyone’s safety of using generators. Make sure your generator is properly grounded. Having a fire extinguisher next to the generator is also important against the safety rules. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5eah5Zys6uypn0.html and here is a video more about keeping others safe when using generators and also about our family’s safety. It’s important to keep our little children safe as well. Make sure your little children are kept away from the generator at all times especially when it’s running. Hope this helps. Remember it’s better to be safe than sorry.

The generator runs on regular to high octane gasoline. There may be a conversion to liquified gas, but I am not sure. These would not be considered green or renewable power sources.
