Hello😊 I have some question about starting homeschooling Does it need to do the Notice of Intent to School District before we can start Homeschool legally? Or we can do that if we want to do the evaluation? My husband is telling me we don’t need to do the Notice of Intent we can just start homeschool anytime we want.

Legally you have to enroll your child into some form of education by a specific age (the US is generally age 5, but some states differ... our state it is age 6). So if you do not send in the Notice of Intent by the time your child is of age for Kindergarten, then you could be charged with Educational Neglect. If you do not want to be under the public school system, then you can look into "umbrella schools". However, you still need to notify the school board of your schooling decision. Hope that helps!
