Nice! I opened my Roth IRA last March. I deposited my max for 2022, 2023 & this January I put in this year's max. So far I've managed to get just under a 32% return.

@red-hat-mike I've been using the wheel strategy, mostly selling 6 to 10 DTE on tickers with weekly options. Rather than using a fixed # of strikes or % out of the money, I choose strike prices based on a combination of support & resistance levels, recent movement/range, and filtering whether to open a position by looking at the return on capital. I like to stay between 0.4% and 1% weekly ROC for the lower chance of assignment. Mostly I trade a 3x leveraged ETF and one or two individual companies at a time.

@@24_Delta Wow, it seems like u have a pretty good strategy and understand R/S quite well. My basic strategy is based on momentum. I look for the symbols that has rumors and gapping up. I buy the weekly that will return about 3%. I will take ~80% profit sometimes before the end of the week ( maybe Thurs) and used the Thurs last 2 hrs to trade the Friday on another stock. So, I try to get 2 bites of the apple, if possible. Currently, my ROTH as of 5/3/24 sits at $29,129 ( started with 15k, 3 month ago) about a 94% return. I know MY current strategy return is just "pure dumb luck" , so I will try to diversify using maybe 3 or 4 symbols. Between the Wheel and pure luck ... I hope that the next 4 yrs of the ROTH will be profitable ( in '28 I can withdraw tax free). I do NOT intent to make any more future contribution for the upcoming years Delta, May your gains match your ambitions. -Peace out

I created an Excel spreadsheet to assist with this using 1 worksheet for each month that includes monthly dividends, quarterly dividends and options trading results for the month. I do about 5-10 option trades each month (more if I repeat any option trades) and having a spreadsheet for each month simplifies that tracking. I also like to do that with my taxable account for knowing what my quarterly taxes will be.

You have 3 options. You “sell to open” to start the deal on Monday. Once it starts to fall big time, you can “buy to close”. It will cost you more money than what you got paid, but you can get out of it. That’s why I went 5 contracts out of the money. If you do get assigned, hopefully it hasn’t dropped too far from what you paid for it, and you can still get a good premium for your call the next week.

"tax bomb"--LOL, this is so true. I have a large traditional IRA that my financial advisor manages for me and I now receive a distribution of 0.1 % each month but looking ahead to when I'm 72+ years old and required to take RMDs (Required Minimum Distributions) is scary--it's a much larger amount of money each year for the RMDs than I thought and certainly way more than I'll need when living in the Philippines.

RMD age is 73. You can still access your Roth contributions tax-free if you specify your withdrawal as such. The Roth earnings are what you want to avoid withdrawing for 5 years.

I've found that stocks with minimum level of volatility have very low premiums for stock options--the higher the volatility, the higher the options premiums for making more money but also the risk is higher that you might get assigned the stock (you have to buy it at your strike price). That's why it's good to select a stock that you don't mind owning (if assigned) but know that it's volatile enough to get good premiums for Puts and Calls.

Yes BR Channel, what Napoleon said is true. The safer the stock…the lower the premium. The person that I make the deal with can exercise the deal at ANY time between Monday and Friday…or not at all. Always make sure you are happy with the sale price. If the contract expires on Friday, then the earliest you can do another contract is Monday, and as late as Thursday

They will, selling cash secured puts is the 2nd easiest thing to get approved. Some brokers may wait to see how you do with just selling covered calls first though. That happened to my friend who use E*Trade

Dividend reinvesting. Did you see part one? It shows that by reinvesting you will get much more than just the “regular” dividend. That’s how Warren Buffet makes money for Berkshire Hathaway 😉

Thanks for watching! Many sites do pay interest, but even though you’re not buying the stock; you still have to put the money up “just in case” as collateral. That’s considered using it, so it’s not eligible. Say you only sold puts with half of your money, then you have an argument 😉

No, it all depends on the price of the stock. On Monday, it’s $17.63 per share. We are agreeing to buy X amount on Friday if it drops to $14.50 per share. As long as it’s $14.51 or more, the contracts expire harmlessly and you do it again the next Monday😉

I normally go 1 or two contracts out of the money, but after doing this video…I am definitely going to experiment with going 5 OTM to see if I can go without getting assigned and still make 100+%

But after 6 weeks of running the wheel I'm moved some stuff around and filled it up for the year. Now I'm putting the same weekly amount into another account that has a couple thousand in it already and I'll be running the wheel further out of the money like also around a 15 delta or less. Whatever I make will just be extra and at the 1st of each year I'll use that account to pay up the ROTH. I think in year 4 I'll have enough to pay up the ROTH without using any of my own money.

No assumptions at all. As soon as you sell the put you made money. When the put expires you collect the money. If you are assigned, you now own the stocks and sell calls for premium until the stock is called away. The you sell more puts. In 5 weeks I have an average roi of 80% annualized. It was higher but I got assigned on a few contracts and the premium is lower because the my strike price is so much higher than the stock price because I won't sell for less than I paid.

You aren’t buying the stocks. You are agreeing to buy the stock if it drops to a discounted price. You do have to put up the cash for collateral, just in case it drops to the strike price or lower

Why were you denied? Are you located in USA? You do have to request permission from Schwab to trade options, so just get the lowest level permission (doing Covered Calls and Cash Secured Puts). I don't know if there is a $ minimum in the account for options but $2k-$5k should be good enough to start.

I applied when my account had less than $1500 and they aproved me. Just don't accept margin when they offer.

Yes, like Kevin said, I'd max out a Roth IRA first, then fund a regular (taxable) brokerage account that you can access when you retire early. Also note, I think what you put into a Roth IRA (the principle, not the gains) can be withdrawn without penalty since you've already paid taxes on what you put into your Roth IRA.

Remember, you get "profit" with every option premium you receive, whether from selling Puts or Calls.

Excel will show more because of the “total value of the money”. It’s hard to explain….Excel will say you have enough in 4.333 weeks, where I have to wait until 5 weeks in the “real world”. I hope that makes sense. I’m glad your numbers show MORE$$$$ than mine 😉😃

I actually used a formula to strip off the extra and account for in a different column. So if I only had money for 4.333 contracts, it would record a buy for 4 contracts and put the dollar equivalent of .333 I to another column to add up at expiration.
