Who has never been overlanding before? Where would you go?
@robertom883

Over-landing does not start with having the vehicle first like most people think these days. Starts with the desire of going remote places and have nature all to yourself then, you find the vehicle that will take you there. Going off road it’s not the same as embarking on overland travel. Sure can do off road on trails combined with camping, which that’s what most people are really doing.

Excellent advice! Couldn't agree more about organizing your supplies/food/gear, upgrading your headlights to LED bulbs (inexpensive upgrade as it also saved me from deer and moose bc I'm stupid and drive at night), and going to the BFG KO2's. Your stock FJ (with All-Terrain tires) can take you anywhere outside of extreme rock crawling and deep water without a snorkel. I've been on most of the popular passes in CO (Imogene, Black Bear, Alpine Loop, Engineer, Cinnamon, Los Pinos etc) and she is so at home and relaxed on those trails... although I shat in me pants on Black Bear Pass lol.

Great review for FJC owners to get off the pavement and into the backcountry! My stock '08 FJC is comfortable for long road trips that take me to the western Rockies and then gets me safely in and out of the back country. Also the perfect companion for my '77 FJ40 at home. One upgrade I'm going to is a dual battery setup to run some accessory stuff like a fridge and prevent the starting battery from draining down. I really liked that gear storage system on your rig.

I bought an '08 TT today. It has 148k and has never been offroading. The original own lives in California, and used it as a daily/commuter, and it has All Season tires for those nasty southern California highways, lol. On Monday im gonna Put BFG KO's on. Im not planning to lift just yet, as I have a 300zx, that needs a new timing belt, idlers, and water pump service, so money needs to go to that vehicle...you know...for those days on the twisty mountain roads, rather than the rocky mountain ones (i live in Colorado). You videos are awesome, and because of your channel and Let's FJ's channel decided on the FJ. Great content, great personality.

Glad I found you. You are really funny and informative at the same time. Love seeing the great content so please keep it up. Just a quick question, I don't have rear locker or Atrac. Do you think I can do overlanding without those 2 features on my 4X4 FJ?
@stokedtour
@stokedtour 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I'm glad you enjoy the stuff. So to answer your question...the FJ is already very capable, even without lockers and A-trac. Lockers and A-trac definitely help you when you're in some sticky situations, but it's more about knowing how to use the low gearing, how to pick proper driving lines, how to know when not to go into certain areas, and good tires for the terrain that you're driving in. But yeah, I would say that you can still do overlanding, just be smart about where you travel, and know the limits of the traction that you have

I have an FJ, I was under the impression ATRAC would operate on any of the four wheels
@stokedtour
@stokedtour Жыл бұрын
Yes I believe I was corrected on this point...I've always assumed that ATrac only worked on the fronts because I have rear lockers and those would be on before I even thought about ATrac

@stokedtour
@stokedtour Жыл бұрын
So i currently carry a Goal Zero 500X and a solar panel which is enough for me to charge all my cameras and electronics. As for a dedicated dual battery setup, I would probably only start considering it if I have a dedicated fridge in the machine, and even still. I don't use too much power when the car is off for me to justify it, but that's because my trips are short.
