The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke diesel engine and a 4 speed + overdrive transmission. Lefty is a 65lb Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019.

I own a retired ambulance. Hi my name is Jerry I live in Eagle Point Oregon. I've been watching your story and love it. I found an ambulance off ambulance Trader for $8.000. It's a 1995 Ford E350 with 100k miles and a 7.3 diesel 6 new tires and all the records from new. She is a BEAST. I working on it in my spare time. I take it to work at least once a week. I work at the Home Depot and Someone always stops me to talk about it.

Tint the back windows with 5% tint. It will prevent the UV rays from entering the windows and help cut down on the heat immensely.

That's a great option. The windows have a fairly dark tint already but not strong enough. Thank you for the comment!

@@TheCampulanceMan I would have the drive and passenger side windows tinted too.....at least 35%. 15% would be ideal to lower the suns rays while still allowing you to see out.

Cab cover is one of the best type of ways to keep the sun out and keep the cool air in as much as possible

Another idea to consider would be to cut a hole in the floor somewhere. The ground under the truck is shaded all day and lower in temperature. The hole would need a screen so just air is able to pass through. Install a Fantastic Fan in the ceiling. With the fan on and the hole opened in the floor, it would keep the truck cool all day. I think that if you got a sheet size piece of sun shade type fabric-light color-and had magnets on it and your rig so you could end up with a 2-6” gap between it and your rig-it would create shade and keep it cool. A friend put solar panels on her house and the shade from the panels on her roof reduced the temperature of her attic dramatically.

The shade cloth works great for that. I have some that I've used in a few locations to keep my sun facing side cooler.

I wish I can show you the reflected on my big truck. I use them on the outside of the window. In which I beat any of the sun rays is coming through and getting trapped between the reflected and the glass which eventually does build up heat. And it looks like you got a cover that goes on the outside of your vehicle that is by far the best way to keep him out coming through the windows covering them from the outside.

Good video. We have two maxx air fans in our bus. This helps to pull in cool air from our windows on the shade side of the bus. We also have an aluminet tarp hanging on the sun side of the bus along with our portable solar panels. For the front window we attach a reflective space blanket using magnets. safe travels!

Good advice, I also do the same for my Cargo Trailer conversion when I park it so that one side of the trailer with no windows will get the most the of the sun. I try to park where my door is facing the opposite of the sun. Safe Travels, always enjoyed your videos.

Cant believe no one has come up with a simple single element swamp cooler that you add water too when parked that hangs in one of the windows. Simple dc water pump and fan should easily provide adequate airflow. Heck a fan in the roof in a hatch would be plenty of airflow im betting. So very little electrical usage. Swamp coolers work awesome in desert environments.

Hey David..lots of good advice. I position my van to the NE this time of year..some sun on the windshield and then down the side. The windshield cover is a no brainer and for high winds I installed grommets.. removed the magnets and use bungees to hold it down. Reflectix in any windows facing the sun works great too. Another key is to open any windows/vents early to keep the temps down..if it's kinda chilly you can wear a hoody till it warms up. I am fortunate in that I have plenty of windows to open on my van 👍

I've filled a cooler full of ice and left it open with a 12v or battery-powered fan over top. Or if you wanna really get nifty put a vent in the top and an intake on the side to hook the fan up to and leave the cooler closed.

@@frankuher6673 40lbs is a bit excessive but I work in a high alpine desert (MT) in the summers and am relatively close to town. Even after the ice melts it still circulates cool air, it's an option on extremely hot days.

Believe me you talk about Huynh,, I don’t like when I almost lost my truck due to 60+ mile an hour winds in Wyoming on I 80. That was very very scary.

If it was me I'd have some magnets installed on your cab cover to help keep the cab cover tighter to the vehicle and hopefully, that would help keep it on and the light out?

It has magnets and velcro straps which can hold it for most wind situations except when it's gusting over 40-50.

Yeah unfortunately unfortunately that wouldn't work so much for a 55 year old woman who is going through major major exstreamly bad menopause with 10 to 13 hot flashes a day, and I have never never ever traveled before even alone with a dog.
