PERFECT TEE SETUP: • Perfect Tee Setup | Ba...
This might be one of the most important hitting videos you will ever watch. "Staying inside the baseball" is a very widely KNOWN baseball saying, yet it is HUGELY MISUNDERSTOOD.
When coaches talk "staying inside the baseball" they are usually dishing out all different kinds of drills ALL to get the hitter to do the same thing: time the ball to square it up.
These drills are made solely in attempt to get the hitter to trick himself into squaring up the ball
Therefore "Staying Inside the baseball" really means "time the ball better. And timing is all done through the Lag and Release of the bat. • Increase Torque With M...
We are going to show you how early release (most common) results in hitting the outside of the baseball resulting in pulls and how late release results in a push. Then we will conclude that if we time the ball in between these two, it will lead to a perfect strike on the baseball.
Then I'm going to show you the PERFECT BASEBALL HITTING DRILL you can do to learn how to time the release of bat lag.
I look forward to helping you improve your baseball in the future!

Michael Derr

@Levi Ahearn Thanks, glad your enjoying the videos, a lot more to come! I'm assuming your referring to working on Hip and Shoulder separation. If you're struggling with a certain move it's always best to slow it down and do lot's of repetitions while you slowly build to full speed. I'm doing analysis for a small group and if you'd like to send in a video of your swing I'd be more than glad to take a look for you. And let me know if there's anything else I can help you with :) ~ Michael Pro Speed Baseball

@JAM 2 Thanks for the comment and glad you like the videos! Getting out in front is very common and and easy fix. It usually comes from being over-anxious and really wanting to get after the ball (which is a good thing!). However, we do need to be patient as hitters, especially if we're getting out in front. Soon, I will be coming out with some great videos on timing and how to time up pitchers, but for now you can check out this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hZ-Vrdah0829pX0.html Towards the end of the video, I go over the 2 strike approach where you time the ball up with the mid line of the body. This is a great drill and swing thought to have when you're getting out in front or facing slower pitching. What you do, is use the mid line of the body as a reference point (I like to use my belt buckle) and you attempt to time contact as the ball is passing your mid line. Check out the video link I posted above, I explain it a little better. If you have any other questions on this or anything else just let me know! Happy to help! ~Michael Pro Speed Baseball

I enjoy watching your videos the more I have time to view. In this video you really do a good job discussing bat lag, but one point I didn't see you mention in your rotation of your hips. Staying inside the baseball or "casting/rolling" really has a lot to also do with the rotation of the hips. Your swing or front side pull of the knob is relative to where your hips are when you start your pull. If you want to be consistent with staying "inside" the baseball no matter where it is pitched and to not change your swing based on ball location is really controlled by the rotation of the hips. On this video, if you went in slow motion, you will see your hips really determined bath of the ball when you took a natural swing. Not sure if you discuss this aspect on any of your other videos. But I do like everything you discuss.

I'm believe I'm releasing my bat properly, however I'm getting outside the ball because I'm making contact too far in front of my body. Do you have drills to help time the pitch? Thanks and enjoy your videos!!
