Great video Neil - I have avoided doing UT2 training in the past for exactly the reasons you state - I found I was compromising the drive to keep my heart rate below my UT2 Max. This felt like and was sloppy rowing and I was aware it was not helping to improve my technique (even though it was giving me a workout in the UT2 zone) and I found doing workouts in my UT1 zone did not compromise my drive & help improve my technique hence the reasons I have been doing UT1 pieces. Now you've shown me to drop the stroke rate so the drive isn't compromised and take longer on the recovery to get the stroke rate down so that the heart rate remains within the zone it makes perfect sense so I will be incorporating UT2 work from now on. So a big thank you.

Been at this 35 years. Just be consistent with your aerobic base work (whatever HR that is for you) and make sure your technique is sound and efficient and things will improve. Keep at it!! Thanks for commenting and watching!
