I love how Campbell said that you have to see what someone's "heart can tolerate." It's these baby steps that help families pull out of the cycle! So many uneducated in addiction want cold turkey, but that just isn't typically how most of us operate or change. You guys are the BEST in addiction information I've ever found. On and off codependency recovery for 30 years, I can see how you guys give real life tips and information. Live you guys!

In my last relationship I witnessed this playing out across several generations of a family. More than one addict was benefitting from being financially manipulative and splitting.

Myself on a low budget due to long time sick leave. Lend $3500 to my addict sister. All in small portions. Using her children as leverage. Works 100% on me. How do I make this stop?

I know you say addiction is addiction, but I want to ask you will you make a video on how can we talk specifically to our daughter or son when they want us to do as the parent one last favor and one the frustration that we already have as parents all we have left to say is no

You should get an attorney's advice to sort it all out but not pay it for them. It's not your responsibility.

Addiction is so hard . I’ve been addicted to alcohol and drugs for over a decade now . Im much better now but there was a point in my life I was drinking and doing up to 20 lines of coke a day as well as other drugs, looking back I feel physically sick that I was able to do that to myself and my family . But during this time I never loved my family or loved one any less i just had dependancy to the drink and drugs which made me look and seem selfish

A few minutes ago, I sent more money to a 'friend' who is blind drunk in a seaside town at night about 50km away. For his 'train fare home'. I am extremely angry with myself as I feel caught between a rock and a hard place yet again. My fear was that he's near the North Sea in this state, yet I know that my action is enabling his cycle, and I'm starting to feel bitter. I need help too.

Guilt means you feel like you did something wrong. Did you really do something wrong, or do you just feel bad for him. Try to differentiate between feeling empathy for his situation and feeling guilty.

Deep end without the floaties! 🤣LOL Goldfish on the brick! LOL I'm saving for sessions for Campbell's help. What do you think about trama and dissociation attachment issues and how it relates to dealing with someone with addiction. I've been studying that.

I tried to help my best friend but she ignored me. In the end I ended the friendship because the drugs made her go wild doing bad things. I told her that she can talk to me again and come near me when she is clean off drugs

I tried to distance my self from my best friend who takes drugs but she didn’t listen to me when I told her that I need to stay away from her until she is clean off drugs. She ends up coming back for me to do something for her to pass time like using my phone or need food or need money from me. She won’t stop asking me for money and she tells me that she will pay me back when she doesn’t pay me back.

What to do when there is joint access to savings, checking etc? 45 years! Whew! Ummm do I begin moving money into my personal account? I feel I’m reasoning well…. then boom we are using savings to live on again when we make enough to leave savings alone. Hope this made sense.

I want to know, too. Shared account. $40 every 2 days for beer. He's not working, so I'm paying for it. Now moving my savings into checking to cover bills. Savings has gone down this year as a result. I feel like I just answered my own question: time to open a separate account.

Lots of great advice and was loving the video up until Marcia’s comment re her son’s “problem with homosexuality.” Mixed feelings about nothing being said in response. I hope her son has supportive people in his life who accept him for who he is.
