Watched this video a month ago or so, before this i was lunging HORRIBLY and couldn't figure out why, and it started out of nowhere, I was slamming my helmet, popping up and K'ing off of 85mph meatballs, really frustrating. After this video my last 4 Sunday league games I'm absolutely Crushing the ball. Couple opposite field bombs with a wood bat, doubles in the gap, on time very consistently. mind you i'm 24 years old at this point, I just needed a Reminder. Good vid Matt

Excellent video. I like using the athletic position analogy. I'm coaching 9-10 year olds. Athletic position is a great teaching tool that I will start using.

That is exactly what my son does. No matter what I do he’s always on front foot. Only though being pitched to. Just can’t break him of it.

This is good. I have a kid on our team doing this and I've been looking for a way to address it. If you ever think of ways to describe it for young people, please do include it. The whole "stride on ice" thing may be bad advice (I had not heard that one) but it does communicate a body feeling. I don't really know what to trip this kid's brain, but I'm going to start with the back hip hinge.

This is exactly what I would tell one my godsons about his swing. He stands tall a la Ken Griffey Jr., but then he stays tall during the swing. I once told him to try to "do the butt" before he triggers to swing, and he began to notice the difference.

Great video..... my son is 9 and I have been trying to fix his bat head being late...... if he’s lunging then that would slow his bat head down..... correct?

Where is the weight at point of contact? On the front leg?

Well at contact the back foot can be off the ground at times, but weight doesn't feel forward. Head should be above back knee. Thanks for watching and commenting!
