Thank you very much Sarah. Sorry I'm a bit behind on replying. These little cuties come every afternoon. I've got water on the ground for them. I fill the container up each evening after the birds have finished with it so all the wallabies can have a drink.

My favorite characteristic of watercolor is separation-and yes, stirring with the brush works but you’re correct about that small well concept. Thanks for showing us that. Gorgeous painting and wonderful acreage you have. Thank you!

My pleasure and thank you Catherine. I like that characteristic too. I had a few beginners tell me that it concerned them so that's what alerted me to it. I told them not to worry about but I thought this might help them.

Hi Louise, I have just discovered you on You Tube and love your watercolours (and your garden). I use french ultra and burnt sienna for my greys and love the granulation the french ultra gives them. I have Paynes Grey, but very rarely use it as it is quite flat and rather petrol blue.

What a cute little joey. Thank you for all your advice on these videos, you are an amazing and generous artist. I too use ultramarine and burnt sienna (didn't realise this was Paynes Grey) and like the way they separate on my palette, it gives me choice to vary the colour on the paper, but a useful tip if you want a similar grey for a large area.
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Lorna. I do too. Daniel Smith make a similar colour called 'Jane's Grey' not 'Paynes Grey.' It must be my accent ❤️.

I bet you're enjoying Anna's lesson(s). She and Louise are both exceptional artists; their styles appeal to me. Anna's main focus seems to be flowers/botanicals, while Louise excels with animals/birds. However, I'm sure they could both paint whatever they wanted to. Amazing ladies. Louise has been so generous in sharing her tips etc. on her channel.

Thank you. I never knew that Payne's Gray was a mixture of ultramarine blue and burnt sienna, usualy If I want Payne's Gray I buy the tube, however I like the idea of it separating a bit, and knowing how to control it.
@joolson8657
@joolson8657 4 жыл бұрын
Not Payne's Grey. It's Jane's Grey, a Daniel Smith color that is a mixture of ultramarine blue and burnt sienna.
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Renae. I think my accent must be a bit confusing. It's 'Jane's Grey' that Daniel Smith make that is similar to this mix. I buy Paynes Grey too. It's a very useful colour.

Louisa I paint a bit looser than you do, and as far as mixing grays I also use ultra blue and burnt sienna. I like how it can be made warmer or cooler just by using a bit more of one or the other color .

Louise, I would love to live on your property to see all of the animals that come and visit. I will be signing up for patreon at the beginning of Feb., you use a lot of the color Windsor violet in your pictures I own Daniel Smith, would lunar violet be a good substitute color?
@LouiseDeMasi
@LouiseDeMasi 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Denise, Thank you! I look forward to you joining Patreon. I'm not familiar with Lunar Violet. It's not on my DS paint chart nor is it in my big paint book. I had a quick look online and it looks a bit dark from what I could see. A colour that I sometimes use instead of Winsor Violet is DS Imperial Purple.

5:41 there's my problem and it drives me mad, or worse, it drives me away from painting as I can't find a way to avoid it. I want to paint a simple grey cloud, I use blue ultramarine and burnt siena, I get the grey I want, I paint the cloud... and after a short while my grey cloud has become an awful blue cloud with a brown contour, like the one you are showing here on the left. I can't accept it... I really would like to have a stable grey! is it a matter of low quality colors? is it a matter of too much water on the paper?
