If you have a brown paste or water forming on the inside of your oil filler cap you will need to watch this. This quick easy tip will help prevent moisture from forming in your oil. And it’s super cheap.

Thoughts on the vented caps? FC219. Heard they can prevent too much pressure that could blow out seals. Just picked one up

I prefer to clean the pcv in the manifold properly and avoid the use of the fc219. The vented cap is just like a cheap bandage that won’t actually fix the underlying issue. I still run a normal cap but I test my pcv yearly and clean if needed. So far I have no issues

Are you saying to replace the cap with a regular new cap or a vented cap

Is the FC219 the right order number for the relief cap? I want to get one. I have the 2.4 4cl. Equinox suv

Yes that is the correct one. If you order on amazon it says it won’t fit but that’s because it is not considered oem. But it fits 100%. Many people use them on the 2.4 ecotecs. Thanks for reaching out. Please like and subscribe

Yes I run into the severe cost increase every time we buy something for the vehicle. When you have the opportunity you need to also clean the orifice in the manifold like I did here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/md-ffZNjyKe1mZs.html

FC219 is the vented oil cap. FC242 is the non-vented cap

Its not always that. You can have a clogged pcv. A new pcv is prob same price as cap if not cheaper and is the root of the problem most of the time with condensation buildup

You are correct about clogged pcv. This illustration in the video fixed my issue. However a clogged pcv does indeed cause this as well. However your statement of replacement of the pcv being cheaper is not true in some cases especially on this Chevy equinox where the pcv is a small orifice in the intake manifold rather than a traditional removable valve. Cleaning this pcv requires pulling off the manifold

This was happening to my Lincoln everytime i hit a bump or would stop at a light it would shut up! Check your sparkplugs!

No. I did that first. But it is not on stick. Yet I am operating in Tahoe/Carson and it is been snowing for 4 months

why cant you just clean the cap .. whats the difference?

The old seal was worn out. Just wiping away the moisture doesn’t fix the issue. Replacing the cap gives you a new seal to keep moisture out. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
