In this video, we learn another important basic of fitness inline skating or rollerblading.
Most newcomers, but also many who have been skating for several years, are still afraid, feel insecure or often have difficulties when going downhill or skating downhill slopes, hills, inclines, etc.
If you can't brake when going downhill or are simply afraid of it, you automatically avoid routes that involve going down a slope or hill.
This in turn severely restricts you and you simply don't have the joy and fun you would have if you could inline skate everywhere without any worries.
This is one of the reasons why we learn six different methods for braking on inline skates and when going downhill on rollerblades.
In this video, we take a look at the following braking methods with inline skates:
► The first braking method for beginners and newcomers in inline skating is the heel brake, which is also known colloquially as the stopper brake.
► The second technique to slow down and stop with inline skates, which is also suitable for beginners and amateurs, is "side skating" or "side walking". With this method, you can easily skate down a hill and incorporate this section into your own skating session.
► The third type of stopping for beginners on rollerblades is "skating backwards" or "walking backwards". With this braking method, we skate backwards down the slope and can lean forward at any time so that we fall onto our protectors in the event of a fall.
► The fourth braking method for beginners and advanced inline skaters is slalom skating or carving with rollerblades or inline skates.
► The fifth braking technique for advanced and amateur inline skaters is the snow plow.
► And the sixth technique to brake, slow downd and stop for advanced inline skaters and professionals on inline skates is the power slide, where you brake by skating backwards.
