How to Strap Down a Motorcycle

In this video I am going to discuss how to strap down a motorcycle. To demonstrate this, I will be using my 2017 Yamaha R6 on my motorcycle platform that I built. To strap down a bike by yourself you will need to use some form of a wheel chock. In the videos, I am using the Harbor Freight wheel chock to securely hold my front tire. I will also be using two Rhino Motorcycle Tie Down kits and Canyon Dancers for my handle bars. I have reviews for these products in my motorcycle playlist. Now let’s get to the fun part.

Westbam West the length is different for each kit. On the Rhino website they list all of the specs for each kit. I believe that mine were 8’ long

Do a video strapping it down in the back of a truck like most people do.

It’s the same exact thing just use the hooks in the truck for the straps.

Why not run a strap through your back wheel? Takes the suspension bounce out of the equation.

1 I didn’t want a strap wrapped around my wheel for an 1800 mile trip. 2 it acts as an extra safety if one of the front straps comes loose. It will limit the bike from tipping completely over.

I would just do both; one thru the wheel to each side, and also the one he showed. The more straps, the more the bike becomes one with the trailer. I also would not tie down the front as tight as he showed. It's not needed, the wheel can't go anywhere. I also usually put a short straps around the front wheel and the metal vertical bar from the chock. The main thing NOT to do is to tie the rear to the rear of the trailer. This basically wants to pull the bike out of the front chock.

That put too much pressure on the clip ons, not good

I barely put half the pressure that they would get under a full suspension travel. They were fine. I do not use that anymore to transport my bike since I switched to a pitbull trailer restraint system.
