I have been a home warranty owner for years. Understanding your warranty and how it works is the key to successfully filing claims, and getting paid. I have never had a claim denied, and I come out ahead every year. Watch my video before you file your next claim. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

BIGGEST SCAM EVER!! Two years faithfully paying my monthly payment…my pump that PROVIDES WATER to my home broke-(water is kinda ESSENTIAL to a home) they said it was not covered…HOW CAN THAT NOT BE COVERED???? Dropped them like hot garbage!! 🗑️ Save your money pay yourself that amount so when something breaks your COVERED!! 2 years and then TOO NOT BE COVERED-!! Horrible scam!!!!! Everywhere I see this post I will be commenting this horrible experience!!

Whether or not it is "essential" doesn't mean it is covered. You need to read and understand your contract. AHS covers quite a bit, but there are going to be things that will still be your responsibility.

I was thinking about ditching them too Scott till I saw this. Im paying 85 bucks a month well 1020 a year. Ouch...but is it really? Right now not really as I have mostly new stuff. Ive got TRANE warranties on the expensive stuff. In fact instead of calling TRANE I called AHS after TRANE couldnt respond quickly and demanded (very politely) a certified TRANE guy showed up. He did in a TRANE truck and performed authorized repairs that did not effect my warranty with them. So I spent a hundred bucks. Beats 2K. Of course its always better to have 10K in a maintenance account then we wouldnt need them would we. The polite turtle always wins the race. LOL OH I do have a rider for well pump as thats my presure source as well. @@scottradford5889

Yep. When my renewal came up, I called to cancel. They dropped my price by around $200 and gave me 2 vouchers for my next 2 claims. Total of $400 in savings. I'm staying another year.

This is a great video educating the account holders from American Home Shield. You should read your contract for you to know what's covered or not by AHS. All the information that you needed is already stated in the contract. Contacting AHS Customer Service, may help you providing further information on what's the updates of your work order, we need to understand as well that representatives is just providing informations on what's they see in your account with them (AHS). Yelling at them, saying profanity words will not help you. If you want to make your items fixed as soon as possible, you can hire your own contractor which will cost you a lot more than the service fee that you've paid with AHS. I really appreciate your video bro, this will help educating our fellow members with American Home Shield.

The problem is.... AHS does NOT follow their contract. They begin by low balling you and then hide behind their outsourced call center. Their estimate includes out-of-pocket expenses that are listed as "TBD". This cost will be determined by the contractor.... The problem is they direct you to 1) accept this agreement, and then 2) contact your contractor. Who in their right mind would accept that sort of agreement with a list of "TBDs". What is your recourse for clarification? Well, call their outsourced call center. Completely useless. They purposely play the long game in hopes you give up. Perhaps they will cover the minor issues that this guy is talking about in the video, but try them to cover AC or heating.... good luck. Everything is spelled out in the contract - yet, they will come back to you claiming it is not covered.

Waiting 6 weeks for a dishwasher is fine. How about the horror stories of people waiting weeks for furnace and air-conditioning repairs? Are you OK with that too? Because these companies pay bottom dollar to these contractors they have no incentive to prioritize your job. Then when they do come out the only way the contractor can make a decent profit is to upsell you on some "upgrade", "code violation" or some such nonsense. That's assuming your claim does not get declined because your system was "too old" or installed "improperly" or "not maintained" etc etc. The general rule of thumb is never purchase insurance for a claim you can afford to pay yourself. Home insurance, car insurance, health insurance fine. Those expenses can run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Paying $500 a year for a home warrantee to cover a possible $1000 claim is ludicrous. You're basically betting that the premiums you're paying will not offset the life expectancy of your appliances. I'll bet that you're the type of person who purchases all the "extended warrantees" offered by BestBuy. This became so ridiculous at one point I asked the clerk if I could purchase an extended warrantee for 500 sheets of computer (printer) paper in case one of them was folded. I'm surprised they didn't try to sell it to me.

For the last 5 years I have gotten my money's worth out of AHS every year. If I pay $500 a year for coverage and I get $1000 in repairs, I don't think that is ridiculous. That sounds like a win to me.

How long should it take to replace a covered hot water heater that is busted in the December???..... How many days should I wait before not being patient???? I'm glad you had good experiences with good plumbers.... Not all plumbers are the same

@@scottradford5889 then you are their perfect customer..... Looking at a $3k bill as they are trying to deny my hot water heater bc the plumber falsely stated a part failed (one that I do not have in the house) and still no hot water after a week.... And I am a paying customer for three years

They are a "for profit" business. There is no way you can come out ahead unless you have a very abnormal amount of problems.

You are talking about relatively minor claims. Wait until you have a more expensive claim - you will see how well they follow your contract..... they are waste of money.
