Nice quick starter how-to. We hit St George Island FL when we can. Entire sand bar and beach got wiped out by Michael and not all of it has reformed yet. A lot of our nik-nik-nik hits are hardhead catfish. I got skewered by one once (middle finger swelled up to twice normal size and I couldn't bend it - had to explain that a lot for the next week 😂). Normally we get lots of whiting, reds, black drum, speckled trout, and the occasional shark or sting ray. My wife loves to see how many exotic species she can catch. Really fun to do - especially if you can't get out on the yak that day. We carry a couple of telescoping fishing rods with us (just in case an emergency fishing situation arises 😎🎣).

@@KayakhacksFishing I'm looking forward to that video!!! My comment probably makes it sound like we do better than we actually do 🤣. We have entire weeks where we get skunked (2020 was horrible for those due to storms). We also only get to go once or twice per year. When we are there, we hit the shore when we can't get the kayak out (2020 was bad for that too). Our best 2020 shore day got us 4 slot drums (1 red, 3 black) and the best kayak day was 4 keeper Sheepshead. Most of the time it's several keeper whiting (which are very tasty 😋) and 1 or 2 other species (usually trout from the beach or Spanish from the yak). My wife (Elisa) and I really enjoy your channel. Loved the catch-n-cook videos you did recently. Also like when you show the hacks in actual use - it helps with the explanation of why the hack is useful. You don't always show the fish catching, but I like them too 😀🎣

Good primer! You did not mention type and size of hook you prefer for making the bottom rig, can you share you preference

It depends. I use size 1 for Virginia Mullet and 1/0 or 2/0 when going for larger fish (bluefish/redfish).

What kind of line did you spool on the reel and what line did you make the bottom rig out of?
@KayakhacksFishing

I really like a line called Ardent Gliss. I used 65lb test for the main line and a wire rig for the terminal tackle (since I was likely to catch toothy fish).
