Went to Disney World in 1999 when hurricane Floyd hit. We went from the parks closing early to the prospect of no food and no way to get around. This was before smart phones! The cast members worked well beyond their shifts to make sure everyone received food and this was free at the time. The next day the storm had gone in another direction. A phone call came in from Mickey. Only Animal Kingdom was open and only for the park guests! It was our first time there and turned out to be a wonderful time. Thanks, Disney staff!

One of my favorite days at Disney was during hurricane season! The hurricane was expected to hit the day we flew in, but it diverted at the last minute. We went to Magic Kingdom that afternoon after our flight landed, and it was so empty. We got to ride all of the rides multiple times, and we even got to stay on Pirates of the Caribbean and ride it a second time in a row because there were no people waiting to ride it. They still set off the fireworks and we got a great view in front of the castle 5 minutes before the show started. More people arrived throughout the week after the hurricane threat had passed, but it was such a magical night that I’ll never forget!

I bring rubber shoe covers to avoid getting wet shoes, but if you don't wear sandals or shoe covers, if your tennis shoes get wet, put newspaper in them overnight and they will be dry by morning.

We're from Washington state's 4th corner,minutes to Vancouver,BC, rain never bothers us. Just remember to carry a bar of soap. Yes it is rainy,cloudy and gray 365days a year here. No one should ever move to this wretched miserable state.

We do the rubber shoe covers as well. Great for water rides as well. Best $12 a person I ever spent!

@@claudineamato1161 Look at amazon (I shop there a lot, don't judge ;) ) and put in the search description "Waterproof Snow Rain Shoes Covers." I got the short ones that don't go up to my knee but have a strap across the side to hold them on. They roll up very small and are easy to put on and off of regular tennis shoes. Perfect in the parks to pull out with a travel umbrella.

I had a great trip to Disney in 2005, thanks to Hurricane Jeanne. The parks did close for one day, but the day before, and the first few days after, were so empty we got to ride everything. We just wore raincoats the day before, for the incoming rain bands. And the days after, the weather was absolutely perfect.

I ask my kids what they want to do when we go back to Disney World next and they always say, Find Molly!!!! 🤣 I told them there is no fast pass line or standby line for that.

My mom seen her at Animal Kingdom. My kids heard about and they were like "wow that's so awesome!" They are 7 & 9 year old boys. In my mind that's a pretty big compliment 😂

-Drive up to Publix to get some non-perishable food & water for your hotel room. -Fill up your gas tank. -Have flashlights & battery or hand held fans. -Have backup batteries for your electronics. -Do all your laundry the night before if you can. After all that is done, head to the parks & stay until they make you leave because it will strangely cool off just a little before the hurricane hits. Orlando is inland, so it will not get the same damage as coastal areas. However…..if it is category 4 or 5, just LEAVE FLORIDA! You don’t want to deal with that aftermath.

Disney's building codes require all utilities to be underground, so the hotels and parks are much less likely to suffer a power outage during a storm. A locals-only secret is to book a room at Disney during a hurricane. The rooms usually go for less than $50 a night, and if your power goes out, just head to Disney when the storm dies down and hunker down in luxury until they can restore power back at home. We've done this during multiple storms over the last 20 years.

@@joho0 I did that the year hurricanes Charlie, Frances, and Jean came through Florida. We had no power for 12 days, but everything was up and running at Disney.

I love that this video included some jokes from the frozen sing along, that was absolutely my husband and my favorite thing from our HS day with the kids, there was a guy in the audience who kept holding up his baby (offering to the people on stage) throughout the show (I forget how it got started) and the comedians kept making jokes about it or referencing it, at one point the guy on stage had to pause because he was laughing so hard he had to compose himself to continue, the show was absolutely hilarious!

We need a park day makeup tutorial! I don’t wear makeup to the parks but, if it can hold up to Florida heat and rain, it can hold up to just about anything!

We were at the Grand Floridian in 2017 during a small Hurricane. Being in one of the deluxe resorts, Corridors inside, we were well taken care of. They had plenty of water/food for guests. And they did an indoor parade for the kids, along with several pianists.

I wore reef sandals once on a very rainy day, and developed a really painful blister on my foot from the wet sandals. I couldn’t find band-aids for sale, but a very nice cast member in one of the Pandora shops gave me a band-aid from their first aid kit and saved my day! Now I always carry blister tape or band-aids in my bag.

Hurricanes in Disney are made by Disney Imagineers. They’ll usually start one when new merchandise is released or when certain items in stores aren’t selling very well. It’s Imagineering at its best.. surprised Molly didn’t know that. Lol

It rained every day on our last trip 6/30-7/4. Some days more than others, but we came prepared both physically and mentally. We buy the shower curtain liners from the dollar tree for our kids’ strollers, and we have stroller clips that we ordered from Amazon. They worked very well!! We even have pics and video of the kids sitting under them in a rainstorm at HS on 7/2. 😂 We used raincoats and also had umbrellas for when we weren’t pushing the strollers. We’re also from south LA, so we are used to the humid hot summer days with the afternoon rain showers.

A few weeks ago lightning struck the floating mountains in Pandora. They had to shut down all of Pandora. I was in line for Soarin’ the next day and lightning struck the land pavilion. It was SO loud. I thought one of the ride vehicles fell. They did not have to shut down the ride.

I have a lucky set of ponchos I brought our first trip in 2006. Have never had to use them in 11 summer trips ( we just miss the rain or it’s been very light rain). Of course I still bring them because if I don’t bring them I will need them!

I was at Epcot last August when a storm shut down the Skyliner back to POPCentury. On the walk to catch a bus from the Boardwalk we saw the lightning strike which hit Galaxy's Edge. So loud, so bright. We did note that RotR was down the next day. Lucky for us it wasn't the park where we had a reservation , but we felt bad for the people who lost out on the chance to experience the ride.

We were stuck there during Hurricane Irma and it seriously was one of the greatest trips of my life (i definitely slept through the hurricane) lol

Couldn’t agree more about Irma.we were at Wilderness Lodge and they took great care of all the guests. We were locked in to the hotel for almost two days. It was a blast and the two days before and after the storm were spectacular as almost no guests in the parks.

We were there during Hurricane Irma as well, played triva and having dance parties in the lobby. There were stable antelopes right outside our windows, so we knew we were safe until our sleeping buddies out there.

I was looking out for the Allears crew the entire week during my visit. Now it all makes sense. It's and to see you all in action if I'm not in the same park. This day was some of the best weather of our vacation.

We were staying at the DisneyLand Hotel when the park was closed due to torrential rains. It was only the second time in it's history to have closed at that time. December 1987. The 1st was during the time of JFK assassination, .

We bring newspaper too. If our shoes get wet. When we get back to the hotel, stuff the newspaper in the shoes and they will be dry by morning.

I was there while there was a hurricane in 2004. We were at All Star Movies and the cast members did a great job accomodating everything. The park did actually close for the first time that I had ever remembered. At the resort, there were lots of character meet and greats, tons of movies on the TVs, and special events in the food court to keep people occupied. The resort itself was damaged by heavy winds, several palm trees were in the pool, and the pool water flooded the area. We were there for a wedding but stayed in Disney for the rest of the time.

One of the BEST days at Disney was in September 2019 right after Dorian was supposed to hit…everyone had cancelled their plans but it ended up not really being a big deal at all. We got a last minute Be Our Guest reservation and there were no lines anywhere!!

One of our trips each year (October) almost always has a hurricane/tropical storm around it. I'm in NC, so not a big deal to me. It's one of my favorite times at Disney!

I've been there during a hurricane once, it was years ago but I don't think they closed the parks? We spent a couple days at our resort instead (although I'm sure the parks would have been low crowds and still really fun) and the cast members were amazing. They added activities in the lobby throughout the day for kids/families, and there were characters always popping in. It was a really great experience and we still had a fun time despite missing a couple of our park days!

About the allergies- where I live I get fairly mild allergies, at the worst of the season it can be decent symptoms. In Florida, wow was it bad. My face swelled up a lot, one day it was almost hard to see because it was so swollen. I have had this reaction very mildly before at home but my gosh was it horrible in Florida. Allergy pills will help a lot!!

I have a mac that fold away into its pocket. Ye it takes up more room than a poncho but it’s more breathable. I used that last time I went to Disney & will be taking it again.

It was. I was afraid they were going to shut it down as I walked up. He said it could rain as hard as it wanted to as long as there was no lightening. You couldn't see the top of the mountain from the bottom of the lift hill. I was soaked through. Totally worth it.

We are there in MK when Elsa hit .. best day ever not that much heat.. only rain at 8pm -920pm didnt even cancel fireworks 😀

We were there that day and ROTR was down all day. We were group 18 and we didn't ride it until 2pm. Also they changed it the ride up, we didn't see Kylo Ren part when the window breaks.

And PLEASE put a fan inside your stroller if you have your baby inside and the cover down!! Its hot and steamy in florida after a storm even in december often. Your babies need air circulation!

So the first day that we had ever been at Disney World we flew into a tropical storm. And we arrived at Disney animal kingdom ,right in the eye of the storm. So it wasn’t raining at all but it had been raining hard. So we got under a building awning and then it started raining again but low and behold Minnie mouse Mickey Mouse and their handler’s were also trapped under that awning. And so my kids had them trapped for like a half hour. Mickey and Minnie were playing games with them it was a fun experience that we would not of had otherwise. And the rest of the trip was pretty sunny and hot.

If I heard lightning struck the ride that would be shocking. But I recently moved to Orlando. After seeing the lighting over the last couple of weeks, yeah I can easily see that happening.
