Great video! Winter camping in a camper van can definitely be a challenge. If you're looking for a reliable power source during your winter adventures, I highly recommend the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series. It has a massive capacity, fast recharging, and waterproof technology. Stay warm and safe out there!

My heater was out when I reached Quartzsite last week. I sandwiched leftover reflexit material between two blankets and was toasty all night. A great no power option. The dog loved it, too.

I am in a class C. I'm not out there yet for now just in my sons driveway in CA (Lancaster). I reside in WA state about an hour away from the ski resorts. I am tired of snow. I have driven school buses for years and charter buses and again... I'M TIRED OF SNOW. So I want to be where it's nice and sunny all the time. I'm heading (when I'm done with this renovation) to Quartzsite. If it snows there I'm sure it will be a a little compared to what I dealt with on my 2.3 acres in WA. With my arthritis.... cold does not do me well. Great video's you guys! Thanks so much for the tips!

Have you thought about getting a windshield cover just in case it starts to snow? You can cover your windshield. That way, snow won't get on it, but the cover instead. Just a thought

Great advice. I'm usually the one that over prepares, but as a single person these days, I'm careful who I go on my trips with. Ignorant people do ignorant things, and you end up paying the price right along with them. So I either go alone or pick my travel buddies wisely. Here, you have a couple that both prepare ahead. I do the same.

I use a de-icer fluid but do not mixed it with my windshield fluid whenever they have ice on my windscreen. I put the de-icer fluid in a plastic bottle with a spray nozzle and just spray the windows and leave it for a few minutes then turn on the wipers to clear the front windscreen. As for the sides after about 5 mins driving or so mind are usually dried. I live in Winnipeg, Canada, where i used de-icer fluids quite a bit between December and March.

They don't call it Winterpeg for for nothing! Here in Ottawa, we used to have relatively harsh winters with snow in November, and even sometimes late October, but with global warming, we don't see any significant snow until late November, and it's a 50/50 chance that we have snow for Christmas. At the start of this year was the first time since the start of organized skating on the frozen Rideau Canal never happened because it didn't freeze enough to be safe for skating. Random Winter Driving tip: Keep a bag of cat litter in your vehicle. It works better for giving you traction on ice than using salt. Salt will melt into the ice leaving the surface just as slick as before, but kitty litter doesn't melt the ice, so it provides more better traction for longer. And if you are travelling with cats, you already have it with you!

They also have what they called lock de-icer. If for any reason you can open your doors (front driver and passenger side) you can put lock de-icer in the key hole with couple of squirts you can then open your doors. Especially useful if wash your vehicle and the the temperature is below 32 F/O C

Two observations: I don’t live in a van, but have done a fair amount of tent and car camping, sometimes solo and sometimes with a companion. I keep an air horn on hand to warn predatory animals away. Also, I keep a package of adult, disposable, incontinence pants on hand to use if I don’t feel safe exiting the vehicle at night if the need arises.

For light frost / ice on windshield...say, above 20-25 degrees, I fill a spray bottle with 2/3 water and 1/3 alcohol. It will melt off the ice and frost. Saves scraping, but it doesn't work all that well on thicker ice. Simple!

Our motor home Has a generator which we use when camp ground services go out. I do make sure we keep a window cracked and use a dehumidifier or humidifier depending on location and time of year. We BBQ year round but I do use a ninja foodie frequently. Didn’t think of bringing a good sleeping bag. Great idea I’ll get a couple out of storage.

De-iced works great with defroster, but if you’re cold and trying to use a wiper de-icer it can be worse because it can harden the ice

Most of the things you describe here is when you have electrical hookups...You wont be running your coaches furnace much or an electric space heater just on battery alone as that will run them down pretty quick without using the generator...Got caught in a snow storm once in Wyoming where we had to hunker down without hookups for almost two days at Little America because I-80 closed..Luckily for heat we had a Mr. Buddy propane heater and propane bottles for back up in just such as occasion so didnt have to run furnace as much especially at night when we couldnt run the generator to keep batteries charged...I also would not buy an RV without it being equipped with the winter pkg meaning if you do have electrical hookups in snow and run the furnace, heat from the furnace is piped and blows on the grey/black tanks and valves to keep them from freezing...Also the fresh water tank will have an electric heat wrap on it to keep it from freezing also...Ya dont want to have an RV where your tank dump valves are exposed to the elements in snow because they will freeze ....Winter pkgs come with the valves in a compartment out of the elements...Something to think about when purchasing as not all RV's come with these winter pkgs...I also bring (2) power stations/banks for whatever use needed as solar isnt going to work in the snow to recharge the coach batteries...SO KEEP THAT GENERATOR in good working order...One big 2000W one, & one smaller 300W one...They come in very handy for electric blankets, making coffee, etc. when you have no hookups.....

We don't have winter where I live. Never been colder than 54F, never hotter than 87. Well, unless you want to bile or ride a bicycle up a 12,000+ ,mountain. Sometimes gets to freezing. We don't have hurricanes or tornadoes either. Nor nut cases with assault rifles ruining your road trip or camping. At age 76 I recently got a 1200 watt electric scooter to get me uphill better/ Plus built a 1 X 2 Meter utility/camp trailer to haul behind. All in all the electric scooter cost $1600, the trailer $110, tent and other camp gear about $150. And a dandy little 1400 watt gas electric generator if I want camp lights and recharge that will run half power for 8 hours on a gallon of gas. That cost just under $100. No license, no insurance or anything else required. I haven't owned or driven a car since leaving the US 12 years ago, and don't miss it a bit, For travel looking into a seat post to rear tire electric drive for bike. Only 250 watts but will travel on plane. And I can get a used or even new mountain bike about anywhere for $100. Then give it away to someone that can use it when I leave at for less than the cost of renting one. And it all comes back to the 7 bedroom/5 bath house I rent for $163 a month, complete with 23 acres of land. And ability to travel the world 6 months a year without any fear of anything being stolen. And last of all a $107,300 yearly US Income Tax Exemption, and for $60 a month health insurance for wife and self that pays 100% rather than the $375 Medicare wanted 12 years ago to cover 80% but not pre-existing conditions from my 32 years US Army Service. With an RV makes no sense to me to be camping in bad weather. After all it's mobile and as such you should be staying in more enjoyable weather
