One of my biggest issues I find with myself in shoots (and I say myself, because in reality, no one on sets really aware of this feeling) is feeling rushed. When I change lenses, I feel rushed and think “hurry up, people are waiting” Or I’ll try to find a composition I’m pleased with, but after a few minutes, I start feeling pressure to hurry up. The feeling of being rushed, whether you are or not, greatly effects the results of the image. I have to work on having patience with myself because, in reality, no one is ‘waiting’. In reality, no one wants me to ‘hurry up’- they’d prefer great images.

brooo, I was the same, I learnt that's just a confidence thing with my camera, and when I just starting focusing on how the model or client feels during the shoot, I realised it doest matter what the photos look like at the time, so at the start of the shoot, the photos are never as good as the end of the shoot, just communicate with the talent and make them feel like they are doing a good job and don't worry about the photos, camera settings and lens options. You'll have amazing photos at the end of the shoot, and lens options, camera setting ect dialled.

Start shooting weddings. Might sound wierd but it really helps with the confidence issue you have going on. My first event was a wedding and baptism hybrid, which is very rare. It was my very first event, solo shooter. Now that i think about it, i could've fucked the whole event up, but i didnt, actually those were my best photos, and looking at them gave me a huge ego and confidence boost. From that moment on i understood that i am in full control of my gear and my emotions, and that i cant let stress get the best of me. But before that event i was only a portrait shooter, not even paid or anything, cuz i was 15 at the time. I had the same issues as you, my knees were getting weak, i was always feeling rushed, i kept loosing view of the bigger picture, i even used to forget how to pose. So now, 6 years later i actually feel very comfortable when shooting, with no stress whatsoever. Anyways, just keep shooting, it will get better over time, also as i said, force yourself to become what you aspire. Start pushing towards that direction, shoot weddings, or for portraits set some goals that you have to accomplish

Thanks so much :) Well - I try to practice my photography outside of KZfaq. I don't just want to be a 'content creator' making things just to show off a flashy camera or new lens. I try to make art (or as close to it as possible) when I shoot. Maybe my videos aren't as good as the 'big youtubers' because of that... Who knows haha

@@MitchLally I respect that man! there are definitely many camera KZfaqrs who (and although I'm not a pro myself) are quite obviously not actually experienced in the real-world with photography or professional videography. Their videos are helpful if I want to know a camera's spec list (which I often do), but videos like these are so helpful in learning skills one actually needs in real life.

@@seansiquig Those are the full-time gear reviewers. The people who actually don't have a lot of real world experience in the field outside of creating videos about the latest and greatest gear haha It's sad because they can often get caught up in specs and image charts etc, and aren't necessarily artists or even particularly creative.
@gerardneedham
@gerardneedham Жыл бұрын
@@JarraxQ I think the full time gear reviews have a place on KZfaq for sure, ill watch people like Gerald Undone before I buy a camera and Chris frost before I buy a lens, but then I tune in weekly to Mitch for my weekly Inspiration!
@JarraxQ
@JarraxQ Жыл бұрын
@@gerardneedham Definitely true, I love Chris Frost for indepth information about lenses and it gives me a good idea of the physical performance of a lens. However it's always nice to balance that with a more creative perspective

I'm a college student who has experience as a DP and video editor--but I'm recently trying to get into photography as a way to experiment and make sure I am well-rounded in the camera realm. Videos like these are so helpful! I have only done one 30-minute shoot with a friend, and it came out well! But hopefully your videos can teach me how to work with people who aren't my close friends 😆 also hope to improve my communication skills!

Great video. I wish I had more than the 2 or 3 photographers, (one great one - who did my Actors Head Shot) around like you. My modeling shots came easy. But yes the Portraits and even everyone's favorite heads hot of mine did better with the other side of the camera's vision. Where were you when I needed you? 😂🎉😅 Good advice!
