How to Swap Clutch on a E36!! DIY

Finally I got to change the clutch on the BMW E36 316i beater!
Really fun to try and do most of the work myself!

What year model is that E36? Do all E36 316i compacts have single mass flywheel & hydraulic clutch?

You should also lubricate the clutch release lever at the two pin points and at the throw out bearing.

Nice upgrade. Btw was the pilot bearing still ok? Normally you change the pilot bearing when replacing the clutch. And has the 316 compact a single mass flywheel? Because the clutch you' re using is a single mass flywheel plate🤔

It must have already had a single mass installed. The old clutch disk has springs on it.

Francisco Miguel First time for me, maybe 6-7 hours of working. Used 1 night and a morning to be done 👍🏼 It should go by alot faster if your better than me, I’m slow.

I've lowered a transmission with the car on jack stands and caught the transmission in my arms. Not something I recommend.

it does not sound good on that small 4 cylinder. didnt even sound good on my 520i 6 cylinder. Better on my 525i. The bigger the displacement, the better it sounds. on this compact it will sound very "wannabe"
