Hi can I check when boarding the train at woodlands towards JB, they also scan the passport? No longer scan the QR code on the ticket?

Hi, yes the staff only scanned the passport using their phone at Woodlands.

The train tickets sold out fast after its release 30days in advance. Last min tickets are sometimes available directly at the KTM counter.

Hi, thanks for liking our video. The train staff only scan our passport with their phone when entering, guess that they really did link the tickets to the passport number. No checking of digital tickets was done, but you can just download a soft copy just incase.

Hello! Thanks a lot for the vid..it has been very useful. 😊 Just wondering if there was a separate immigration checkpoint for train travellers (i.e., not with bus travellers) on the singapore side to get to JB? And a separate checkpoint on the JB side when returning back to singapore?

Hi, yes for travellers taking the train, there is a dedicated checkpoint (at the train station) on both sides of the borders, independent of the ones uses for buses. When going towards the direction of Malaysia, both Singapore and Malaysia immigration are on singapore side while, on the returning trip to singapore, immigration is on both Malaysia and Singapore sides.

Gi, do we need to print the ticket? I saw in the video around 9 minutes 18s the scanning of passport for ticket validation, do we need to register anything first or when we book the tickets the details will go into system? any manual method?

Hi, you don't have to print the ticket. The ticket verification is via the passport number. No registration is needed as well, the system will auto record your passport number when buying of ticket.

Hi, for a guaranteed tickets its best to book online, but if its for last min, they sometimes do have extra tickets available at the office for off peak travel times.

Thks for the video, super helpful. Never taken a train before. When booking online, one person book for 2 and details of 2 persons will be keyed in? for passport validation before boarding. Or do we book individually?

Hi Joy, when booking the tickets online you can book for 2 person and the details can be keyed in individually. When going through passport validation before boarding, it is done individually

Hi, Singapore citizens, Permanent residents and long term pass holders who are fully vaccinated do not have to fill in SG arrival card when crossing via SG-JB land borders.

Hi, I noticed on the website that the departure gates will close 40 mins before departure. can I just confirm that the immigration clearance happens after we enter the departure gate? ( for both woodlands and JB Sentral)

Hi, although they didn’t check at the train immigration, but we still recommend you to download and register the MySejahtera app. As for Proof of vaccination we brought soft copy of it just incase some hotels do still check for vaccinations.

I don’t know whether you know the answer to my question or not, however, are the tickets from Woodlands to JBS are highly sought for or not? Because I was trying to by a ticket, online, from Woodlands to JBS three months before the departure date and they already run out of it, I’m still planning to go by train and do you think it’s possible for me to buy the ticket on the spot, at the train station on the day of the departure?

the shuttle train tickets are very popular, and can be sold out very fast during peak periods. Once the ticket is sold out online it wont be available onsite. And its quite impossible to buy it on the spot at the train station.

Is there a luggage rack in the train coaches where we can place our big luggages?

Hi, for ETS gemas to KL, there is a luggage rack at every carriage. But for KTM from johor bahru to gemas, we don't see any luggage rack there. what we can suggest is try book the first row of seats, which has a wider leg space so you can put your luggage in front of you.

Hi, you may want to check on the visa requirements on entering Singapore via ICA website, if via coming in via air, you will need to fill in the SG arrival card 3 days from arrival. Do also bring your vaccination certificate for verification just incase.

Im going to JB this week and already booked my tickets online. When queuing up we only need to show our passports right and vice versa when we return to SG from JB sentral? No tickets will be issued or whatsoever?

Yes correct , be sure to note the new boarding rules as well. The rule kickstarted from Aug. 1, 2022. from Woodlands to JB, gates will open up 40 minutes before departure and will close 20 minutes before departure.

Hi, Yes, the station is located at Woodlands Checkpoint. It is very popular, and tickets get sold out in advance during popular periods.

What’s the exact location of train station on Singapore side? How far it’s from mrt or bus station? Tourist can travel? Asking to travel Malaysia from Singapore,thanks a lot

Hi, The train station is located right beside Woodlands checkpoint, you will walk pass it before immigration. You may take a bus from woodland mrt to the train station/ Woodlands checkpoint. There is not restrictions on tourist buying train tickets to cross the border.

Hi, if you are crossing from SG to JB, both immigration is on the singapore side. JB to SG, the immigration for Malaysia is before you board the train, and Singapore immigration is after the train in singapore.

Hi, Pros of train to MY is that the customs will be bypass, as their have a dedicated customs counters, cons is tickets are harder to get. Pros of bus, tickets are unlimited and runs 24hrs. Cons of bus, customs hall can be very crowded. We did afew buses from Singapore to Malaysia video in our channel, do check out our other videos. 😁

Hi, the duration from train moving off is 5mins, but duration from boarding to arrive and out of JB sentral station is roughly 15mins.

HI, wanna ask, 1) Where is the nearest parking to leave our car before we board a train to Woodlands? How much the parking fees per day? 2) How to take the taxi to go our destination upon arrival at Woodlands Train Station? Is there any apps to install or can we pay in cash? How much the average rates if we want to go to places in Woodlands? 3) Do we need to fill up the TRACKTRACE TOGETHER apps like we have MYSEJAHTERA to enter Spore nowadays? Hi Sharina, we are unsure on the parking fees, but you can park your vehicle at Komtar building and walk over to the station. Upon reaching woodlands you can download grab or gojek, price range depends on time and distance. Trace together is not required at the moment.

Hi, technically its still recommended by their authorities , but they do not check it at customs or at the malls, hotels usually only ask for vaccinations certificate or vaccinations date.

@@flyawayflyy As for now i only encountered them asking for date of vaccinations only, they didn’t ask to see. Most of the time may a digital copy of the cert in your mobile phone to show is sufficient.

Hi, MDAC is only needed if you are passing through egate if you have registered before. You won't be able to use the egate at the train immigration. Therefore, there is no need to fill in the MDAC.

Hi sorry for the late reply, yes the immigration is separated from the main land immigration. Both immigrations are on Singapore side when crossing Singapore to JB.

Hi, yes you would need to get a return trip ticket, you can either get it from the KTMB office located at JB Sentral just right outside the station exit, or you can get it from the KTMB website under shuttle tebrau. Highly recommended to get the ticket beforehand online via the website as tickets sold out quite fast. The website link : online.ktmb.com.my

Hi, its highly recommended to get it through the KTMB website, although you can get it onsite at the office, the tickets during peak periods sells out fast and might not be available at the ticket office.

@@thebiannualtravellers I see, one more question if i buy the ticket for say 2345's KTMB, how long is your advise to reach there because you still have to clear the immigration for SIngapore and Malaysia side custom which you mention that is on Singapore side?

@@chanweiming8861 Hi, it is advised by KTMB website to arrive at least 40mins before the train departure timing, thats when the gate open as well, gate will close 20mins before departure timing. Yes, both SG and MY immigrations are on singapore side just right after the boarding gate, the immigration counters for departure by train is different from the regular checkpoint crossing.

Hi, I would like to enquire something. Can an Indian passport holder with Singapore visa are allowed to get visa on arrival (with fees)either by bus or train travel at the immigration point or is it a must to get a Malaysian visa at the Malaysian embassy in Singapore?

@@fan.80s_90s Hi, we think traveling by train is the most convenient as it has it own customs hall, it allows you to avoid the main customs hall queue during peak hours which you might encounter when taking the bus.

Hi, for the singapore side its right next to woodland checkpoint (customs), called woodlands train checkpoint, for the Johor Bahru side is also located right next to the checkpoint and named JB Sentral train station.

Hi, there is not much queue for the immigration as its isolated from the main immigration hall, the number of people in the queue are those who are boarding the train within that time slot as well. We arrived roughly 45min before the stipulated departure time.

Hi, If you are headed from Woodlands to JB, gates will open up 40 minutes before departure and will close 20 minutes before departure. Heading to the gates 40 minutes before departure will ensure enough time for all clearance before the train.

@@user-jr5ck4ty9j JB to Woodlands, the gates opening up 30 minutes before departure and closing 10 minutes before departure. Reaching the gates when it opens will ensure ample time for customs.

@@aldifortuner278 Hi, 16.25rm for tickets from singapore to JB is correct (conversion rate as of that time), as the ticket is purchased in Ringgit when buying through the KTMB website. 5rm is the return price of tickets from JB to singapore.

Hi, didn't realized my reply wasn't uploaded through, the location of the train station on Singapore side is right beside woodlands road same location as woodlands land checkpoint. The station's bus stop (Woodlands train checkpoint, number: 46069) can be access from woodlands interchange via bus 911 which is about 6 stops (13mins). Tourist are able to travel via train just need your passport info during booking of train tickets.
