This video shows how I disassembled, cleaned and reassembled an HP Pavilion DV6748TX. There may be some errors, in which case, please use common sense :)

Thank you so much! Your instructions are very detail. Without watching them, I could not imagine that I can clean my HP dv6000 by myself after seven years of use.

Thanks a lot. Very helpful video. I watched it while fixing my friends laptop. It took me 2 hours and 20 minutes. Without this video probably it would be the whole day. Temperature dropped from 100 deg to 66. It's not as loud as before but I can still hear it almost all the time.

Great video. Whoever designs laptops to require them to be almost completely disassembled, just to access the CPU, should be tarred and feathered. Makes it almost not worthy undertaking these steps to renew thermal paste...almost. Thanks for sharing

nice vid; i like te fact that you marked the screws with primary colors. One problem I still have is that some are shorter than others and i am not sure if i mixed them up or not in some places. In some it just won't fit so it was obvious;. Other than that this was rly useful!

Hi Great video, my problem is with a dv6700 the dvdrw drive is not showing in the bios or device manager, although some weeks ago,it worked fine. It has power as it ejects and disks spin for a few seconds...how much do I need to remove ( minimum ) to check the cable / connection from mobo to the drive ? Thanks

i have a few of those dv6700 purchased on ebay for cheap price at home, nice laptop and they are easy to work on them and they runs win7 perfectly, thats why i keep them and they are hundreds of parts on ebay due to a defective nvidia gpu on earlier models to keep them running if something bad happens.

Don't know about easy to work on...I've got another video with a Sony laptop and once I removed the back cover I instantly had access to the heatsink/CPU. With this, well as you can see, I had to literally take the whole thing apart into pieces before I got to the CPU... Yeah, 6 months after doing this the GPU defect kicked in, but I've been too busy/lazy to take it apart again and resolder the GPU.

At 7:46, you're disconnecting a cable from a recepticle on the motherboard. What is that cable for? On my dv6458se, the same cable is present but it does not connect to anything. I don't have the connector on the motherboard that is shown in the video. I'm just curious what this controlled.

Not sure sorry. Might be WiFi antenna or Webcam.

@@jnnz88 I found out later that it's for the webcam. This is odd though because my laptop has a webcam but there's no cable anywhere going to this receptacle.

I am using this to see how to gain access to my CPU . Is it possible to put this CPU into my desktop ? Anyone ?

Hi, I don't think you can put a laptop CPU into a desktop. They are different.
