hi adam, i found your video informative and uncomplicated, thanks for your efforts, I grow many varieties of tomatoes and cucumbers in my tropical climate of north Queensland, Australia. Some plants struggle in summer humidity, but winter here is productive, kev

Awesome, exactly the video I was looking for! One question I had is if burying the rooted cuttings as deep as shown in the video causes any stem rot in the cucumber plants? I have been warned that cucumbers are susiptable to stem rot and that you should not water close to the stem. Not sure if burying an inch or two of the stem poses the same risk. On the other side burying the cutting very shallow (at root level) would proably cause the plant to very easily be uprooted, so I'm not sure on what is better.

Personally I always plant deeply as I feel the more roots that develop from the buried section of stem the better. I haven’t had an issue with stem rot, but would be cautious about keeping the compost regularly soaked if conditions are cold. Once plants are established I only water from the bottom. I’m actually developing a cucumber growing guide at the moment that runs through every stage from sowing to harvest. Good luck.

Hi Adam, I loved your video (found it on google by chance). Can you tell me how long it takes for the cucumber cuttings to take root? I'll check out your other videos, keep up the good work!

So pleased you've discovered my channel. I've found cucumber shoots root fairly quickly. I think you should notice tiny white roots starting to develop within about 2 weeks, and then you can pot these up at any stage .... I usually let them grow and form well before potting, especially if the cutting is quite long and has several leaves to support, but to be honest once they have started developing roots they could be potted.

@@Adams-Gardening-Guides Thanks Adam, good to know! I have 8 cucumber plants, they are growing like crazy now. I will take some cuttings tomorrow to make new plants as a backup. "Worst" case scenario, I'll be giving away lots and lots of cucumbers at work and to neighbors 😅. I always underestimate how much they produce, but they taste amazing! Your channel is at the top of the list on Google when you search how to propagate cucumbers, so expect some traffic from there. It used a frame from your video, the one where you're holding the cuttings full of roots in your hand, I'd use that as a thumbnail, KZfaq loves those!

Hi there!! I wonder if this technique will work on wax gourd and pumpkin. I had tried on tomatoes, eggplant and chilli, it's rooting pretty well.

I may have missed it, but do you supply any kind of food for your plants? We've started our growing our own tomato plant this year and it's starting to produce. Do you have any recommendations in this area?
@Adams-Gardening-Guides Жыл бұрын
Yes regular feeding is essential. I use a high potash liquid fertiliser, like Tomorite, for tomatoes and all my other crops. This supports their growth but mainly the potash encourages good flower and fruit production and development. Search out a good high potash fertiliser and use as directed.

My cucumber turn yellow when young and die.

This could very well be due to lack of food or can very a symptom of a root problem, perhaps caused by overwatering. So hard to tell without seeing the plant.
