Superb! I speak Spanish and English, but I am trying to write in English, and enjoy learning at my age. over 70! It is very nice of you to share your knowledge, best wishes.

I like your perspective more than hers. You have interpreted her thoughts with your own perspective and it makes them much improved.

I decided to start a journal blog and this video is really insightful about the importance of documenting one’s own life. I got into a car accident today (fender bender - I and everyone are fine) and I hit my head on my seat and in the panic of thinking I might have had a mild concussion, I thought of how detrimental memory loss would be for me - to have the details of my life wiped away in an instant. Love this video!

Oy. I am glad to know you and everyone around you ended up being fine. Recently, along those lines of memory, I had been thinking about Alzheimer's and how little we know about it, and yet how vast its impact on one's life. Documenting one's life in written form, in notebooks, takes on a new meaning in that regard. Thank you so much for your kind words, and for watching this video! Sending you lots of warmth this holiday season.

NICE VIDEO. JOAN'S SELF-READING OF THAT PASSAGE "SEE ENOUGH AND WRITE IT DOWN..." IS STUNNING. A SUBLIME COLLECTION OF WORDS AND TO HEAR THEM BEING READ BY THE WRITER JUST ELEVATES THEM TO A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL.

Great video, Ani! I listen to your videos while working. Not only you have such a soothing voice, but I love your content. I love notebooks! I don’t keep a diary because I feel like it’s pressure to write, but I do have different journals/notebooks I fill in with sentiments, ideas, thoughts, important events that mean a lot to me. There’s something nostalgic about notebooks, and like you said, it keeps us in sync with our younger selves when we look back to them. ♥️

Great video. I’m a teen and just discovered Joan Didion and can’t wait to read her books! Might I also suggest Decomposition Notebooks. They’re simple paper but the covers are really cute!

I use to keep notebooks and journals too and write, but lately felt blocked sort of. Enjoyed your video and it was inspiring!! Joan Didion is really good reading. I find her inspiring too as a writer. Thank you. Notebooks help with fiction as well.

I'm at university and for one assignment we are asked to keep a journal where we parallel with our assignment write about what we are doing, sort of observing ourselves through the process. It takes extra time, but I find it very interesting to work like this. It adds an extra layer to the assignment, that probably would not have been there without the journal notes. Might not continue doing this process for upcoming assignments, but it's still interesting. I guess it's through that and Ms. Didion's passing that I found my way to your video. / Scandinavian

Hi there! Thanks so much for your lovely comment! I hope you’ve come to enjoy paralleling your assignments with your day to day/granular moments of life. You might enjoy Georges Perec’s 1973 essay/chapter, Approaches to What?

On a side note, I tried bullet journaling and I didn’t like it. The concept lends itself to someone being able to make the pages what they want and this lack of structure complicated the process for me, lol
