Really enjoy following your adventures! I must agree with some of the other commenters that rough seas could damage the hose or open the valve. I would hard install a lockout valve near the fuel separator with a hose and a cap on the hose to keep it clean and prevent any leak. Great idea, just needs a little tweaking! I wanna make sure you stay safe so I can enjoy more videos!

Like your set up. I use outboard fuel line with primer bulb like you have to fill gas cans at home from m y boat to in case i need it for m y home generator. I have a large portable, (17500 watts) which will run everything in m y all electric home. So it's nice to know I have over 20 gallons normally (usually keep it close to full ,,, 28 gallons) in case I need it . I can siphon directly out of m y filler neck and slide hose into bottom of tank. Nice video you made. Thanks!

If you have a big enough tank you don't have to worry about that I would get one of the generator fuel caps that have that fitting for hooking up to a portable marine fuel tank and extend the hose to plug it in. Then no need for cans or the risk of spilling fuel in the boat and if you wanted to sleep late you can still be cool.

I have been planning on doing this for years but didn’t think about tapping into the fuel filter. I think I will go with electric pump with shut off valve at each end. I got a gastapper 12v fuel transfer pump you can get that on ebay or amazon I use it allot for this sort of thing. You can use it to pull fuel from the main tank through your new aux fuel line so you wont need the fuel bulb its allot easier. You can also use it for transferring gas from fuel carry cans to main tank when you need to refuel or if you do need extra fuel onboard. Say you go over to Bimini and you want more fuel you can use it to fill the main tank. I will do my main run once i get there fill the main tank from the cans so they are not sitting onboard for too long. I got 2 flexible portable fuel bladders 10 gallons each off aliexpress which are good because once you have put the fuel in the main tank you can store them anywhere because they pack down to a small size you can also use them to bring fuel to the boat if there aren’t any dock based gas bowsers. But do get one of those gastappers they are very useful and those flexible fuel containers are also brilliant. If your interested and have trouble finding those just ask and ill give you more details. Awesome dude. Also good for getting old fuel out of the main tank as you just use that aux fuel line and pump the fuel out into your car or other container if your not using the boat for a while or suspect water contamination in the main tank.

Nice video - detailed. Two questions..... 1) I want to get old gas out of my on-board boat tank. I have the same Yamaha water separator. If I connect everything the way you did, can I run the engine to pump the fuel without the need of a primer bulb on the output (from separator) line? 2) It seemed that you were siphoning without the motor running. Is that correct? If that's true, I don't understand how you got the fuel to siphon uphill. Oh - Love your boat!

Hey brother.. Been a while. Hope life is treating you amazing. Your videos aren't showing up in my feed like they were anymore. I'm not sure if you check your comments days later, so I'll leave this same comment on your most recent videos. You did something, that I'm intent on trying to make happen now to your Parker. You added an air conditioner to your pilot house, and I'm on this project now, but need some sound advise. Knowing what business you're in, I need to find best suggestions. My pilot house is slightly larger than your's, so in reality it's the same. I want a heat exchanger type system, but don't like the fact that sea water can ruin the exchange system very fast, especially if any unusual grounding or proper zincs don't work properly. We finally launched the boat here, on the east coast, after moving across the US, 3,200 miles away. My Parker 2520, has now caught massive Halibut and Salmon, all the bottom fish varieties and tremendous size lingcod, a world record cabezon and endless amounts of albacore tuna out west. Now, with tons of labor, endless money, and a fresh 1000 hour full tune up on my Yammie, massive amounts of maintenance and labor, we finally launched 2 weeks ago. I'm now putting blackfin tuna, a bunch of mahi (we still call them dorado), a massive king mackerel, tile fish and countless others I won't bore you with. I bet we have the only Parker 2520, with the same owner for 12 years, who's put this huge of a variety on our boat with the same owner, on 2 coasts, totally different water. So, my passion for this hobby only grows bigger every day, and I continue to want to push myself to do more, safely .. So, now, to help my gringo-ass escape the heat, when I'm use to the rural northern California coastal weather. It never got that hot there, but here, we are seriously not use to the heat. so, if you can point me in the direction, I want to start our own youtube channel to document the amazing stuff we've been able to accomplish here recent. Cheers captain.
@OutOnTheReef
@OutOnTheReef 3 жыл бұрын
That is awesome captain and sounds like you've been catching a lot of big fish and yes down here you need air conditioner in my case I have a 6000 BTU and if you can go a little bit bigger would be better for the Size increase in your cabin, and these Bulls don't have insulation so the bigger the better your boat in generator can handle but remember every time you go bigger on your air conditioner the exhaust needs to be bigger and the air intake and that is awesome for you to start your KZfaq video and I'll let you know now how much time it takes from me my KZfaq function. When I take a day fishing and the Atlantic when I come back I got hours of material that takes me close to 6 to 8 hours to edit so I can put it public on KZfaq so another words having your KZfaq channel you have to have a lot of extra time for editing if you spend eight hours on the water you match that up 8 hours in the computer almost Captain depends on your footage and what the quality of your video that you like but that is awesome😉👍👍⚓
@poppabear9279
@poppabear9279 3 жыл бұрын
@@OutOnTheReef Thanks brother! Appreciate the excellent info and feedback for sure. Perhaps you can advise a model or type. Also, since this is a heat exchanger type situation, exchanging heat for cold, using sea water for cooling, I expect that the warmer water out here will negatively affect it to some degree? So, if the sea water temperature is like 80 degrees, does that mean I'll only be able to cool down approximately 20 degrees or so or what's the average? Does your generator run it ok? 110vac or 220vac? I like the Westinghouse generator you bought. I went back looking for videos you made on this, trying to find the video you did, where you upgraded the generator to the new Westinghouse inverter style. I just don't like running salt water into it.. do they make a passive radiator style, where it's an enclosed system? I had a larger boat, with twins on it, that had heat exchangers that would corrode with salt water. Did you add an additional thru-hull for water supply? I hate poking holes in my hull, but likely have to do this. Wish there was another style of AC you can add to a boat, but a window style probably won't work.

You should be really concerned about the handle on that ball valve getting knocked around and accidentally opened while you’re in rough seas because it’s not secured to anything other than a hose. You would be leaking fuel into your bilge and you wouldn’t even know it. You should change that valve to a valve that can be locked out.

Amazon sells cheap little 12v gasoline pumps I’ve been using it for years and even if the can is lower then the tank it won’t siphon all new boats have anti siphoning valves on tank I was unable to run my 9.9 hp kicker off the filter had to connect directly to tank bypass the anti siphoning valve a bonding wire should be used whenever you’re transferring fuel to eliminate static charges
