There are a number of ways to take screenshots in Windows 11 that are fast and easy. The Snipping Tool has many options for capturing your screen as well as editing the image.

Here is a tip. Print Screen = copies entire screen to clipboard Alt + Print Screen = copies active program window to clipboard I do alot of instructions and procedures documents at work, and pasting the active window is almost always better than pasting the entire screen. It also saves you the time of cropping, since the image is whatever size the window was. Easier to just size the window beforehand, then Alt + Print Screen and paste.

I come from windows 10 and with Win+Shift+S I could screenshot both monitors lets say I wanted to show half my monitor 1 and half my monitor 2 I could just make a rectangle to capture that, but now in Windows 11 if I start the rectangle on either monitor it doesn't allow me to move to the other, and it's frustrating me :(

Used to be able to spam the prtsc key and all those would be uploaded to dropbox, it's just way to much trouble now...

In Windows 10 if you took multiple screenshots you could open them in snipping tool and it would open multiple snipping tools at once, but it seems now that if you snip a 2nd screen and open it in the snipping tool it overwrites/closes the 1st screenshot and you can only screenshot one at a time. Anyone found a way around this issue?

With onedrive all you had to do is press prt scrn and it would take a screenshot. How can I change that back to that?

I want to know how to take a scrolling screenshot on windows 11. It makes no sense to me that Screenshots sometimes scroll on its own and sometimes not when I want it to. The snipping tool never scrolls.

Windows 10 was SO much easier. I tried doing the Windows key and print screen key at the same time, does not save screenshot every time! Is there any way to eliminate, remove, or delete, the box that shows up on top after trying to make a screen shot? Sometimes I want to make 5, or 10+ screen shots in a row. Thank you for your time.

Under 'Accessibility Keyboard Settings' when you search in Windows, scroll down to 'Use the print screen key to open screen capture' and toggle it off.

@@jus_jus21I'm not sure what you want then, this just returns the PrintScreen back to its original function - which is just saving a capture of your current screen to your clipboard. If you want the printscreen to automatically save to a folder that's covered at the start of this video by pressing Win + PrintScreen

@@semeruwarrior Unfortunately it doesn't actually do anything. Disabling the "use the print screen key to open screen capture" does nothing, and pressing PrtSc still just opens the snipping tool.

hey so i tried the windows shift s and its saying its screenshotting but its not in screenshots, i tried seeing if its being saved elsewhere but i cant find anything, anyone know the problem?

Check the settings and see if it’s being routed to a different folder.

Unfortunately they removed the ability to simply hit Windows key and PrtSc to take a screenshot. Now you can ONLY take screenshots through the snipping tool, and it requires you to hit either Windows + PrtSc or just the PrtSc key by itself, which opens the snipping tool bar on the top of the screen, and then you have to choose from the options like full screen, rectangular, free form, so on and so forth. Yet another example of Microsoft removing useful features and replacing them with...nothing.

snipping tool is really sluggish in win 11. In win 10 it was much better in terms of fast response time.

I swear I used to be able to press only the *Prt Scn* key and it would save the screenshot to my folder... but since a month ago it doesn't work on it's own anymore. Frustrating as I only discovered this now. All the screenshots I thought I took gone..

Yeah, sadly, Microsoft thought it was hilariously funny to just remove the very useful feature of pressing Windows + PrtSc and have it screenshot your entire screen and save into your pictures folder. Now you have to screw around with the much more annoying and less useful snipping tool. It's just another example of Microsoft removing a useful feature and replacing it with absolutely nothing.

I got to give you a thumb down because the screenshot tool on windows 11 and the snipping tool are two different things. They do the same thing, but difference. Screenshot is found in ... drop down list

Gotta admit, I didn't know how to take a screen shot on my laptop, but that's because I use my fon for everything. I only got the laptop because I needed a 2nd screen.
