It looks like you cut a bunch of info about at least 2 or 3 other beers (ales, maybe?) can you maybe do a 'cutting room floor" video, with some of the info left out of this? Keep the "production" level minimal, and pass it on. :) KTHXBYE

Very glad to see The Good Stuff back! I'm not big on beer, but if I get the urge while I'm out with friends, at least I'll have a better understanding of what I'm looking for. The only beer I've ever liked is Guinness. But I haven't had it in ages because I always feel full, even if I haven't eaten in days, so it's impossible to drink.

A friend I met recently from southern Germany introduced me to German Helles, and I must say, it is very nice. Need to get some of that in the US. My favorite style ever has to be a nice Belgian Wheat with a fruit garnish, or a rich and creamy Stout though.

I love IPA's, they rule my beer world. Having said that you have to vary your beer consumption to appreciate it all the more. Lake Of Bays makes a really good red beer and I love a good Porter and Beau's makes a good one all organic and the water comes locally through a spring. It also sells in the USA if you want to try it. The bottom line though is variety and I just discovered in doing a little research here that there are even more breweries popping up locally so more to explore is always good.

I love so many different kinds of beer. I really couldn't say that I have any particular favorite, but I'll narrow it down to two favorite styles: dark beers like porters and stouts, and hoppy beers like IPAs. I totallt get what you're saying about being tired of IPAs, and I agree to an extent, but I still love that hoppy bitterness.

@MaaZeus

I like very hoppy beers but only when the focus is on hop aroma and taste, NOT on bittering. There are some IPA's and APA's like that and they are absolutely delicious but most of them are a bitter mess, tons of hops but all of the taste and aroma are boiled away and what is left is bittering that wreaks havoc on your palate. Also, AFAIK, originally IPA's were highly hopped to make sure they stay fresh for long time (hop works as a preservative) when shipped overseas to India and beyond, but hop taste also fades and mildens over time so what the beer was at the end of the shipping destination is no longer the same bitter mess as it was when made. So I think IPA fans are kinda missing the point when they drink young and fresh super bitter IPA's. But if you like bitter IPA's that is fine. Everybody has different taste.

Bewdog beers are pretty impressive. Massive variety from the Scottish brewery. 5am Saint and Brixton Porter are a couple of my favourites. They do some interesting stonger beers like Sink The Bismarck which is a staggering 41% ABV. If you're in the UK visit one of their bars, best (not cheapest) place to get a pint.

My usual go-to beer is a Pale Ale (which is a different section to the India Pale Ale). I've always thought beer was gross, I think it's because I don't really like bitter flavors, I'm used to sweeter things. I couldn't drink coffee until I discovered all kinds of flavored latte's (I'm probably a Starbucks snob but I'm growing out of it). It's really interesting to know, even on this simple level that's in this video, that hops is the more bitter taste, and the difference between an IPA and a lager. It makes me want to learn more about different kinds and see if there might be one that I might actually like but haven't tasted before because I didn't know any better. You should make another video about more different types of beer!

The first beer I tried and truly loved was Alexander Keith's IPA. I think for anyone who's not a beer drinker because, as the fellow said, most North American lagers are quite week in flavour (I'm looking at you Molson and Labatt). IPAs offer something different and an excellent jumping off point for everything beer has to offer. Also, I'm thirsty now, and I'm also regretting the fact I opted to buy wine on my way home.

would have been nice to know more of the names of the beers you drank (there were more glasses at the end than were addressed in the video). cicerone founder has a great passion. kicking back a scotish ale as i watched :p but i think that IPAs have become so popular because the hoppy taste is really easy to create (good starting beer for a home brewer or microbrewery) and the hops would hide any flaws in the beer making process.

As a chef, I respect the range of beer as I do the range of wines. Sadly, the food in most pubs and bars are so chocked with fats and salt and sugar, that only a highly hopped IPA will cut through all the fore mentioned. Find out if your favorite chef or restaurant offers a "beer pairing menu" to truly experience beer and food together. (And possibly justify your favs.)

My favourite beer is the so-called 'Storchenbier', a Helles which you only get in the Steinbach Brewery in Erlangen, Germany. It's simply everything a Helles should be. And while I'm on the subject of Helles, a little nit-picking: Helles is not only the go-to beer in Munich, but in all of Bavaria at least. This is an oversimplification of course but generally where the north of Germany goes for Pilsener, the south chooses Helles (and wheat beer which is incredible in its own right:D)
