How to wind a bobbin, thread, and begin to sew with a Singer Fashion Mate 257 Sewing Machine. All Fashion Mates are very similar and these techniques will work on other models as well. I had to adjust the motor to put more tension on the belt. Sewing machine basics 101!

A simple walking foot that can be bought at Joann fabric works on it just fine I have this machine

Adjust the upper tension, and also make sure you are properly threading your machine.
