Great video thanks, and a big help! I found it quite fiddly and hard to understand at first, but well worth the effort. It feels much stronger than the traditional whipping I've seen, and the finished knot seems smoother. I did several practice runs before I was ready to do a real one. Thanks again!

Hi, not sure if you still monitor this channel, but if so…….right at the end when you pull the 2 ends tight, are they crossed over each other underneath the wrap essentially locking each other in place (preventing each seperate end fromfurther unravelling the tighter its pulled)…Thank you have learnt alot from your channel. EDIT……just tried again and after the innitial first hard pull they seem to sit side by side under the wrap, but when i pulled harder one end unravelled an extra loop (under the wraps) but then locked itself/crossed over the other end under the wrap locking it self."not sure if this makes sense but i think i figured it out..

Hi, yes the idea is that they lock themselves in. I have found it can come undone over time and tend to use a half pull through method now.

@@CampbellCarving ok thank you, when you say half pull through, are you meaning what i tried to explain in my second response to you above? Do the first initial cinch where they come together, then pull one side a furtherfull loop to crosslock?

What size and type is the whipping string?
@CampbellCarving

This is paracord, I used for the demo. I usually use 1mm waxed polyester thread on my carvings.

So the lashing and whipping are the same?
@CampbellCarving
@CampbellCarving 2 жыл бұрын
The whipping is one part of the lashings I use and have made other videos on, if you have seen them. This video was made as its hard to see how to do this with thin black cord.
