You saved me a ton of money! I'm trying to make a visor on a helmet for my cosplay project but couldn't find a cheap solution for tinting until I saw this. Thank you a million times! Companies trying to sell tinted plastic for $50+ get outta here!

I actually liked the brush strokes as something different. I'd do some of each! 😁

I like the inside method better because it has fewer brush strokes and is less opaque. One thing you might try if you do this again is using nail polish instead of food coloring - I would do a mix of colored polish + clear polish + a few drops of acetone to thin it a bit. I have used this method on similar glass projects in the past and it worked very well, I think because the nail polish is designed to not be too streaky.

I'm taking 2 biggish (little smaller than 2liter) store bought tea bottles that my husband buys all the time. I've created hot glue hearts and butterflies (butterflies for my girlfriend) and am going to use your technique on the inside of the shapes! I'm planning on painting it all over with white chalk paint first, so I guess I'll go over the tinted modpog with the pouncer brush to avoid brush strokes or perhaps use a dropper to apply. Thank you! This was timely!

I like the coating of the inside better, just like to know how to stand it up straight to make an object dry up right, kind of like your concoction but without the concoction (the stick will leave a mark )if that makes sense...lol
@treshaja
@treshaja 6 жыл бұрын
+Tonya Winters Tonya, for me, I placed parchment paper down on a flat surface and put the object on top upside down for while until all the excess Mod Podge was gone. You will have to move the object every so often to a different spot on the sheet because the Mod Podge will be pouring out. After awhile, it will stop and it will be dry. I hope this helps.

So if I wanted to do this method on a vase or mason jar I would have to put them in the oven ???? And thanks for replying so quickly, lol...☺️😁
@treshaja
@treshaja 6 жыл бұрын
+LuvLegendary Yes, after it dries (where there's no more Mod Podge coming out), you would place the glass face down on wax paper or cookie sheet in the oven on the bottom rack at 170ºF/77ºC (or the lowest possible temperature) and bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the bottle or jar is dry and transparent.
