would love to know how to use inkscape to prepare a recipe for engraving on Glowforge. Remove lines and pictures that were on original recipe card to just leave the handwriting.

In what format does the image have to be? I have a .ai image format, but I saved it as a SVG, then imported it into Inkscape, and it didn't scan.

Hi, thank you for the videos :) I’m kinda stuck, I follow all the steps but my picture has more colors and it does not trace all the colors :( how can I fix that?

just add more scans to the bitmap using the up or down arrow buttons in the bitmap window

How about working with white images or part white? What is the difference in removing the background versus making transparent? I want to take a white image and lay it on top of a mainly black image like a black watch face image???

Well when you use 2 shapes (like a path created with a Bazier Pen and the image it is drawn on) and use the "Object>Clip>Set" method you are just "Hiding" the background. (or making it transparent.) When using this method you can always restore the background to make it visible again if you want. If you remove the background by tracing a bitmap. Then you it is removing the background and it cannot be restored. Im assuming you are wanting to create a design on the dial of a watch? if that is the case i would trace the image manually with the Bazier Pen and make the background transparent. Then just make it the top layer and then move it over to the position you want the black watch dial. Hopefully i understood your question lol

I’m having issues with the trace bitmap image being lower quality that the original. I’ve been watching tutorials on how to add a white background for stickers.

If you are wanting a higher detailed vector image the tracing individual shapes within in the image would probably suit your needs better than tracing a bitmap of the whole image. This method does take some time but the end result can be much better looking than tracing a bitmap. If you need any help just let me know!

im running into a little trouble boss< how do i do this with a black and white image ? the border is black, then the image has a white outline with black filling, i want the black borders gone but the image to stay

trace bitmap the whole image border and all. Then on the vectored image you created with the bitmap. Use the bazier pen to trace around the portion you want to keep. Then select the image and line you just traced. go to object, clip, set. Yes and no. When you click the update button in the Bitmap menu it will update a preview of the image your tracing

Try reducing the amount of scans you have (amount colors in the final vector) If the background color shares the same color that is in the image you want to keep. You might have to trace around the object by hand with Bazier pen.

IT would be nice ,if you couyld actually show where to click,i've not used this yet and hav'nt a clue,you just say something and not show where to click.
