Question: So are you releasing the pressure on the leash once they comply? Thank you for this helpful information - not just for Rally, but finding the heel position in general.

Yes, and it doesn’t take long for them to get the idea. I also use leash pressure to train a straight sit when heeling.

So how do you fade out the leash?

When they start moving without leash pressure, hold your hand the same way as you fade out the leash. So I would still hold my hand slightly behind my leg and gradually fade that out.
