I was thinking throughout this whole video if there was going to be a showcase for those of us who like raising an equally busted Odin and Ophelia, and I imagine such a video is in the pipeline. I very much look forward to the rest of this week.

I ran profiteer Mozu in my last playthrough and it really helped, but I was still kind of short of money and I don’t feel I was particularly wasteful. Do you have any tips for making money? Wish I could get Profiteer Midori up and running a bit quicker, but that Kaze S rank takes a while...

Kevin Portinga: Currently my CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, but until a month ago it was an Intel Core i5 4570 from 2013. The GPU is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, also from 2013. Citra is mostly CPU-bottlenecked, but AMD graphics cards have horrible OpenGL drivers in Windows, so that might be your problem.

spicybrad: Profiteer's not even close to necessary, assuming you're picking up the gold in all the chests along the way. I don’t know exactly how you’re spending your money, but here are some things you might be able to do. Be economical with forging, and don’t go past +2; you get a few free copies of the Iron and Steel weapons in most weapon types, so you don’t have to pay full price. Use tonics to hit specific thresholds, not just because you want all your main combat units to have better stats. 4-8 tonics spread across key units can be a great investment; 20 tonics are probably overkill. Before applying tonics, use the mess hall. If you’re comfortable with farming resources, buy a Chef's Hat and give it to Jakob, Peri, or Percy. Don’t spend a lot of Master Seals on units you aren’t going to keep using-if you have more than two throwaway early-promotes, that’s too many. Class-changing to grab damage-boosting skills is often more cost-effective than forging or promoting pair-up bots. Use healing staves and healing items when you need the extra HP to survive, and otherwise, don't. The basic Heal staff is usually sufficient, even if it doesn’t heal completely.

Promoted units gain EXP as though their level is their displayed level plus their internal level. The internal level for most units is the average of 20 and the level at which they actually promoted, rounded down. For example, promoting at level 10 or 11 results in an internal level of 15, so that as a level one promoted unit, you’d be effectively level 16. Notice that promoting at odd-numbered levels carries a small advantage: the odd levels don’t increase the internal level at all. Camilla’s internal level is 15 and Leo’s is 18; Xander’s is 20. Jakob and Felicia have IL 0 and a level cap of 40; Gunter has IL 5 (IIRC) and a cap of 30.

It doesn’t just add five. Here’s the table of ILs based on promotion time: at 10 or 11 → 15 IL at 12 or 13 → 16 IL at 14 or 15 → 17 IL at 16 or 17 → 18 IL at 18 or 19 → 19 IL at 20 → 20 IL Same-level enemies in general give 30 EXP on a kill. It’s 25 if you’re one level higher, 19 if the difference is two levels, then 13, 8, 3, and finally 1. If you don’t kill, I believe it’s always 1/3 of the kill EXP, rounded down. If you’re under-leveled compared to the enemy, you get three extra EXP per level difference on kills only. (Chip damage is capped at 10 EXP I believe.)
