Forgot to mention this in the video. If you've transferred your account and wish to transfer your animal crossing island over using the transfer tool you need to create a new local user on the old switch and link it to your Nintendo account. This will make that the secondary console and then you can transfer your island over to your new Switch. :)

You are the only person who I have found that has talked about how exactly the SD card transfer went. Thank you for actually showing “Transfering EVERYTHING” from one Switch to another. I’m tired of seeing that title without the SD card being discussed!

Finally upgraded to the OLED, and honestly had a small panic when I saw things would be deleted from my SD card (and my poor ADHD brain didn't register *what* was being deleted). thank you so much, the thing about the micro is exactly what i needed. a lot of other channels go in depth about the transfers, but only games and game data. NO ONE talked about the pictures and screen shots and this is what i was looking for. im not as worried about the games, there are really only 3 that i would cry about loosing data for, but the pictures are from events that are over and not easily replicated. all the other games i have are not as important, or they are indie games i dont mind starting from scratch so ill be able to enjoy everything and not worry.

For anyone wondering about the SD card section, after you click redownload from the eshop, you can go back to your switch home screen and you will see the games/saved data redownloading. I had a lot of Pokémon and mario kart and marvel ultimate alliance 3 so it did take a while to fully download everything I had. Admittedly it's a odd process to delete your SD card but it does all come back through the process in the vid.

This is by far the most clairvoyant video on this subject I have watched.

Finally caved and purchased the Splatoon3 OLED. My launch console has battery failure and I don't want to risk data loss when it gets repaired. Thank you so much for covering how to transfer the SD card data. No one else has explained this part.

Tysm for this tutorial! I was panicking so much since I didn’t want to lose my Splatoon or acnh save data. I followed all the steps in this video and it worked perfectly. To anyone still confused I transferred my profile and user data to new switch first. Splatoon 2 transferred over fine. For acnh I downloaded the island transfer tool on my old switch before transferring user profile. I had 2nd account on my old switch to open the tool.

thank you SO MUCH for this :D almost had a panic attack when I plopped my old sd into the OLED and my album was gone, turns out the pics and videos were in system memory on the old one. put the sd card back, transferred them all to the sd card in settings, the put it back in the OLED, everything is right as rain! animal crossing AND pokemon saves!

Well, after transferring my Pokémon games' save-data, downloading the backup save-data for the rest of my games from the cloud, and reupdating all the software, I'm now right at home on my sweet new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition Switch OLED. Glad I didn't need to worry about my screenshots when moving my microSD card into the new system.

On games such as Splatoon 2 when I go on the save data cloud it says "Not supported". Does that mean I can't transfer my save data or is there a way to save my data?

I just got a Splatoon OLED (not sure if anyone else has) and I had a really tough time with setting it up, but this video helped me a lot. The thing was, I had already signed into my account during setup, so I was super confused with all the tutorials. If you transferred your account during the setup, then you need to redownload your games and the press plus while selecting them if the Home Screen and then go to save data cloud. This will transfer your save data for most games, except for Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing. To transfer Splatoon data, you just need to go to data management and send save data. (Sorry that this is so long) :) Edit: Some other games don’t support cloud save, so you have to manually transfer data.

Wish me luck! I plan on picking up my OLED in a few days, preferably today, and transferring my ACNH data to that one.

Saw another video a while back, and presumably you can copy the data over to a computer and then copy it back after reformatting. To be fair, he did this when upgrading from a smaller SD card to a larger one for use on the same switch, so not yet sure how that all works or if it would for switching from one console to another. Just bought an OLED the other day, and have been waiting for Micro SD card prices to drop to upgrade, so I'll know more in the near future.

Thanks bro. Your video actually was the savior. My son lost the controller to his brand new switch of 3 days of ownership. I was trying to return it until he lost it as I got him the new OLED. So I ordered a new used controller from ebay and used your video to do all the transferring. Good to go. Then, I found out that there is a way to "find my remote" on the device and we actually found it. So off to the store it goes to be returned and he can enjoy the OLED. We just have to get through today as the screen protector and case are on their way from amazon. Thanks again for the video. Also, I learned about something about some subscription for the year. This is what I was looking for, an explanation of the sd transfer. I also bought a higher micro sd along with the oled. But what if I put the higher sd in the oled before transferring, will it also transfer from the old switch sd to the sd of the oled? Tomorrow will they arrive.

I haven't got the new Switch OLED yet but there's one thing I'm still confused about. I have 3 questions. If I'm going to transfer my Island, do I select the yes option when asked if I'm still going to use my source switch? Will all my saved game data be there on my microSD card for both physical and nonphysical games even if I have to download eShop games all over again? Since I have a microSD card, after the transfer of data when I put the old microSD card into the new Switch, will all my saved game data for physical games still be on that SD card? My fourth question is how do you transfer Pokemon games that are on an SD card?

does this also transfer Pokemon Sword data?
