I wish I could have you guys explain this to my old doctor. She had me on a 1200 calorie diet at 15 because I was 5 lbs over the healthy weight range for my height. I was doing 12+ miles a day between marching band practice and my waitressing job. I spent years eating as little as possible and still gaining weight while she just accused me of lying in my food log. I started following your advice instead and lost 40 lbs while regularly eating 2000+ cals.

I under ate for years going to a fitness nutritionist. Once I bumped up my calories to 2500-3000 calories a day on my own weight started coming off like crazy. I eat nothing but meat and fat to get all the calories I need to thrive. I am 50 and still build muscle.

I'm 32 years old and my metabolism is the same as I was when I was 15 and eating crap, you have to listen to your body and change the way you eat and keep being active. People want results but do not want to put in the work! Thank you for calling things the way there are :)

This was eye opening to me. I was eating around 2k calories per day and I was training 5 days a week. I increased my calories to 2.5k and lowered the training volume to 2-3 times per week. I had hit a plateau for a long time and after this change I'm getting massive gains and actually lowering my body fat percentage!

Dear Adam, Your short term rental idea is great, and if done properly it WILL work I've been doing the same thing with rentals in East Nashville but with Music. Homes turned into Studio Recordings/Rehearsal spaces/BNB's for traveling musicians with a gig in town.. Hourly packages, nightly packages, weekly packages. and oddly enough....'March of 2020' skyrocketed my business. You should 1000% do this! It'll blow your mind how much people are willing to pay for something no one else is doing. Hooyah Mind Pump!

Good to know that the young father has the determination to maintain his health and fitness through his being a new parent. When I got married 17 years ago and became a new father the very next year, I was 25, and slim-fat (the average slim bloke who looks good in a dress shirt and trousers but not very good in a fitted tee). Over the next decade, I ballooned from an acceptable weight to a BMI over 30. It's been in recent years after my first three children have become teenagers, I have five children, that I started on my health and fitness journey. My only precedent was my 17 year old shredded self. I am now 41, relatively lean, and at my fittest. I now look more like a Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan, although a bit less lean than Lee. No surprises there as I'm also of Chinese descent. I find Lee a bit too skinny, but I choose to be contented with the way I look and am focusing on progressing in fitness in a healthy and sustainable way. 🙂✌️✌️

Caloric restriction raises Uric Acid, especially in individuals with genetically high Uric Acid levels. Uric Acid raises insulin resistance and slows down metabolic rate by affecting the thyroid gland. If I diet super strictly, my Uric Acid levels will creep up over a period of 2-3 weeks, but it will decrease as I add back say 200 calories per day each week, and I typically will continue to lose fat and gain muscle up to about +400 over my old maintenance level. At the end of the process, I may be down 10 pounds in 8 weeks with no muscle loss whatsoever (usually increase), and with my metabolism back at 100+%.

I just got actual proof that you can speed up your metabolism. Did a cut initially, lost a lot of weight, started to plateau. I've been building for quite some time now, and now I've cut calories again. First time, I needed to get down to 1700 calories to cut, now I'm on 2400kcal and way stronger. All I do is lift and walk. I'm hungry, but not starving. Thank you guys.

This episode really spoke to me, spent two years losing 140 lbs. stayed at maintenance for 6 months not letting the scale move in either direction after the weight loss. a little over a month into my first bulk and it was extremely painful watching the scale go up at the beginning but stuck with it and I am so glad I did. My strength is going through the roof and putting on good size and feeling incredible.

@@bigwilfybear5894 Long story: Weighed 300lbs on may 26 2021. Drastically cut calories, 1200 - 1600 I estimate. Lost about 50lbs total. Was told to start lifting weights in August of 2021. Did so. By December 2021 I lost 100lbs total. Bumped up my calories to approximately 2400. Max lost is 135lbs by May 2022. Slowly added calories because I was still losing weight even though I thought I had lost enough. Been doing the maintenance mambo for the last few months. Doing micro bulks and cuts. I eat unlimited calories on the weekends, 2800 keeps me in a deficit during the weekdays. Thus, I estimate a 3200 maintenance. I'd say I'm between 13-17% body fat. Loose skin makes me question it tho. Arms are very lean, back too. Thanks! TLDR: About 12 months.

What if you dont have months and years to rebuild your metabolism because you have heart failure and your heart doctor says the quicker you loose the weight the better off you will be. I'm 437 as of today. I'm walking a mile a day just by increasing my steps and learning how to use the X3 bar. I just eat protein and the fat from the meat nothing else. I'm eating 150 to 200 grams of protein a day. I am just keeping my head up and never going to stop working at it. I hope I dont sound depressed because i'm not. I'm excited for life. The challenges of ahead of me motivate and push me. I love the endorphins I feel from walking. They greatly enhance the way I handle stress.

It was awesome hearing you guys talking about the bio hacking short term rental. It is a great idea and offers the occupants a lot of value. I’ve had a bad taste in my mouth lately regarding websites such as air bnb and VRBO because of the influx of green “real estate investors” that are trying to make a quick buck on their guests and engaging in shady practices such as installing surveillance cameras and not cleaning their spaces properly. I believe that to be profitable and competitive over established hotels, short term rental hosts should head into this direction of offering experiences that hotels cannot offer. It could become its own industry adjacent to but separate from the aforementioned websites. Can’t wait to see the idea materialize!

I’d be curious where that caller, Jake, had his other macros at. The fitness conversations around nutrition focus too much on protein if you ask me. Yes it’s important to get consistent quality, decently high amounts of it, but there’s more to the equation. I was hormonally off a few years back because I ate too little fats for example. Plus I didn’t eat enough carbs to provide a convenient energy source to my body, as carbs definitely help someone push harder at the gym. Sal’s point is valid though, some do not require high amounts of volume at all. I’m the same way, I make my biggest gains doing only 2 days a week of workouts.

After hearing the last caller, and the response I no longer aspire to win MAPS15, it's not for me. I'm not looking to maintain. Youse guys need to build a 6 day push pull legs routine that are 30 minutes long. Sal hinted on the format of MAPS15, I did 4 sets of deadlifts followed by 3 sets of one isolation, was under 15 minutes. I'm sure we could fit enough volume in strict 30 minute splits. If you don't do it, I will. RONS30 😂

19:47 I don't think our humanity in this case is so easily replaceable. Sure the idea of this perfect AI mimicking a human without any of the faults sounds interesting (even if there are always people that'll find a way to get offended with anything), and this sounds worth listening to for many reasons and very intriguing. But ultimately I think people will always, even if it takes time, start to crave the authentic human experience on both ends. Communication of this nature is so much more complex than chess, which boils down to nothing more than mathematics. Even as complex as that game is, it has infinitely less variables and no humanity, so of course machines adapted quickly.

You are 100% right. I was that person; eating 1200 calories (tracking!), eating even less to lose weight, which ended in my getting even fatter. Than I started to eat more, adding 100 calories every 2 weeks. And...scale was going down and down. Eating more and more I was getting leaner and leaner. Now...I still have fat to lose and want to build muscle, but I try to do that starting on around 2100 calories not 1200. So from my experience... everyone telling me you can't gain eating so little, is an Idiot.
