I think I'll finally cut off my hair like yours. I had been wearing wigs for a while but then tried to grow out my hair again. It's so stringy that I've been wearing it up in a clip and using silver and white hair powder to cover all the thinning areas, but I'm just over it. Do you ever feel overheated wearing a wig? I worry that I'll get too warm with one on. It's not like a hat that I can remove, and being menopausal when the hot flashes hit I worry having a wig on will be unbearable. I look forward to the "Travels with my wig!" episode!

Lavinia, When I had hot flashes, yes it was like a hot bucket of water pouring over my head. It always passed , If necessary carry a fan in your purse. Excuse yourself to the bathroom, Take the wig off, cool your head down, run your hands in cold water. Slip you wig back on and go back out with a smile. No one will notice.

I have noticed that synthetic wigs make me super hot. Human hair is more cooling. And open wefted is cooler. But you do get used to it. I never get overheated anymore.

Mel, I'm 64, and I love my natural shade of white/silver hair. It's long, but getting really thin on top. I haven't been able to find a wig yet that doesn't look wiggy. I've bought a few from Godiva's Secret wigs, and from Paula Young. Everything looks awful on me. Years ago, I used to wear wigs due to a bad perm. I got a lot of flak from my family. Would like to try a Raquel Welch wig close to my own color simply because I love the color. I watch a lot of videos of other women trying on wigs, even cheaper ones, and the ladies look great. I just look like a goof. You look beautiful in either wig. Actually, you're beautiful enough to just go with a buzz cut of your natural hair! Thank you for your videos!!

Both wigs look great on you but the rooted wig makes you look younger. I'm so happy to have found your videos. I'm 64 years old and my hair started thinning when I was in my 30's. I have worn wigs and hair toppers and never go out of my house without one.

Mel B just love your help. I am a hairdresser by trade. No longer practicing lol , but I did lots of older ladies I guess I have no idea there ages but nobody told me that we loose our locks or that they change so drastically. Mine was a long straight brunette. I of course liked the red head and the blond so I did what any hairdresser would do and I played in colors. Learned to use expensive products to protect my locks through all that. Now it’s string white thin curly hair I mean seriously who knew? So I started wearing wigs I bought a tony of Beverly Hills in a white blond it was 600. American dollars and loaded with features I did realize it had. I loved it started watching ladies sell us wigs on these videos and started shopping on line. I bought some with lace fronts from belletress and some were lovely . My favorite one is also my most maddening one. Anyway I just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey. I bet we are excited you are traveling here to America . I have the same thinning hair problem. I had chemo and lost all of my hair which was thin then. When the hair came back it was even thinner and sparser than ever before. Wigs make life better.

Mel the other day when I joined your channel, I went to a local wig salon and bought a wig that is rooted, shoulder length, with what I call a wave. Your video with the 5 wigs, you have one that looks like this one, also, my hair looks the same color as yours so my wig being rooted I think has a very natural look. Also has a sway bang. I did want you to know that I left there wearing it and felt like me. Sorry paragraph is long but I need to say it is all about you and the wig can make you feel like your former self. People can be kind but you have to feel good about yourself. You know I no longer could get my hair to be like it used to be and I stopped wearing my makeup. When a woman is faced with losing our hair then we really can connect with others going through this. I agree both wigs look great on you, so glad I found your channel. See you on your next video

I love that look. I have the same issues with my hair as you. I’ve had trouble finding a wig that doesn’t have bangs. I’ve just started wearing a wig and my fear is it will slip off or slide back. I purchased the headband and haven’t had any issues, I’m just extremely self conscious that it will slide out of place.

Monica, I have never yet! the grips help and I use a roll on adhesive if I am going to be in extreme weather conditions.

The only time I had it happen to me was when I wore a necklace that had a lot of metal - once the machine is triggered they see everything. But the metal in your wig on its own is not enough - so now i always wear minimal jewellery going through the airport. They did stop me and I explained everything and the good news is they were shocked when I said I was wearing a wig because it looks so realistic. I just explained everything - they looked under the edge of it and they were fine with it.

Raquel Welch is a great choice in wigs. I am so glad you are here. I transitioned two years ago. There are quite a few ways to do it. Wigs are a way to go out without people staring and wondering why you don't get your hair colored. Sure the ladies doing the TikTok videos have an audience to share their journey with, but out in public view, people just don't get it. Then I would wear a wig or a hat!

I would also say that as you age your skin tone changes and becomes lighter so darker tones don't always suit if you've become silver haired

Are there other brands you can recommend because I cannot afford Raquel Welch. Her wigs are beautiful. I have hip length very fine but still somewhat thick blonde hair. There is a lot of shading in it. My hair is straight, I have no curl in it at all. In the summer it's frizzy because of the high humidity in TN I want a long wig and also a shorter one to see if I could live with myself cutting it. I am in my 60's but don't think anyone should cut their hair because of age.

I’m really considering getting a wig. I’m 66 with beautiful white hair, however, like yours, it has become very thin and fine and I am starting to get the receding hair line around the temples. My first question is, are they hot in the summertime? Also, I don’t live anywhere close to a wig salon, so I don’t know where to start in knowing what to look for🤷‍♀️ I do, however, love the all silver/white wig in this video because it looks most like my hair color. Pammie, thank you for "binging"me. lol. I hope thee is something there that helps. The silver in that wig is a nice silver light grey. very natural. Just find a retailer that allows for returns and don't do anything but try on ( don't brush the zig zag part that they deliver in) Only slip it on to see if you like the color and length. The shorter wigs don't get hot that have open wefts. A lot of air get's through.

When I wear a wig grip it feels like it's gonna slide backwards off my head...do any of you feel that way...I don't have much hair so I would be embarrassed.

It could be a number of this, it could be too loose, it could be the wrong direction. There are silicon wig grips which don’t budge. There are wigs grips with a bit of silicon that resist slipping. What kind do you have?
