My acne scars usually take 1 week to heal if it's not that bad, but it takes 3 weeks/a month to heal if it's really bad

What about acne scars on arms and back? My face heals pretty quickly especially since using vitamin E oil but it seems scars on the body take longer to heal…

It takes some time I think around a year until I saw the results but my acne scars are not fully gone but mostly. I also don’t use tretinoin more than one time max. 2 times a week. Also I would recommend buying the Melano cc vitamin C serum if your scars are still red :)

I can't use sunscreen - my skin reacts badly to it. When I do find a sunscreen that doesn't cause the burning reaction, it causes acne, including cystic acne. I'm so tired of not finding any answers. Many people that have a history of cystic acne and old acne scars have such damaged skin that reactions to products aren't that uncommon, so where is the advice for us?

Have you tried zinc based sunscreen? Mineral based so no stinging even around the eyes, it’s non comedogenic and has anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties(it a common ingredient for diaper rash cream) so it’s perfect for acne prone skin, and it’s broad spectrum. It can leave a white cast if you don’t work it in well enough but a lot of brands makes tinted ones to combat that. I will never go back to chemical sunscreens again

@@reginageorge5409 I've tried one zinc-based so far - doesn't cause the reaction but very uncomfortable to wear on the face all day. I also have a tinted mineral base by nude by nature - that also is reaction free but does cause acne, my skin is very messed up right now because of it.

@@reginageorge5409 Mineral sunscreen should leave a white cast if the right amount is used. However, you could use a tinted one.

Why do you use the pizza emoji to discuss acne scars? often time the term “pizza” is associated with long years of torment by people using the words “pizza face” to describe people who suffered or continue to suffer from acne. Bad enough you’re a dermatologist claiming to want to help that specific population. It’s like a physical trainer using the pig emoji in videos describing ways to lose weight.

hi! dermatology student here. retinol can be useful in curing hypertrophic scars, however, please only use retinol at night or in the winter otherwise it can thin your skin"s surface layer! also, it's important to note that retinol may not work for everyone, some people react differently. please help ;; !! i have acne scars all over my face, i dont get pimples really anymore but the scarring always made my skin look dirty, i was consistently using azaleic acid on the scars as a spot treatment but last night i decided to use this bleach cream my mum has been using (carotone cream black spot corrector) instead as a spot treatment and i woke up and somehow it looks worse :(( ?? it feels like years of progress down the drain i couldn’t believe it :(( should i just go back to my normal routine ? or did i make a whole new problem for myself :( ?

Not at the same time. Use vit c in the day time followed by moisturizer and sunscreen, and you can use tertinoin on the same day but at night. Peace 🙏🏼

Girl I hope you're consilting your derm about that if not already. Especially since tretinoin is highly irritable and hydroquinone can backfire if not used properly.

@@jpx5044 Among other things, vitamin C improves collagen production, (which is why it's a popular anti aging ingredient). So it might help against scarrings.

Vitamin E oil. It’s supposed to help a lot with scarring I just don’t use it on my face as it is a heavy oil and I’m scared it might cause breakouts.

thank u sm. my mom scared me this morning saying dont pop my pimples anymore because i’ll get scars and i have small little light scab on some areas where i popped them last week, and this made me feel better because they arent deep so it should fade away. thank you and i wont touch my face again. 😂😂😂😂😂

Yes that's one of the main things they try before putting you on the accutane drug. Personally tried that myself and it did nothing. Later in life when I became an adult I could afford to get myself accutane and the only side effect I ever had was super dry lips. It cleared my acne right up and my face has been clear of acne for like idk 7 years or more? I had to go through 2, 6 months cycles my acne was that bad.. was SOOO worth it though. I still get minor breakouts on my back and neck though. I've never had cystic acne anymore though just minor red bumps.

Differin gel in the day (which is adapalene aka retinoid), and Faded by Topicals at night (tranexamic acid, niacinamide, and azelaic acid), wearing sunscreen works!

Mine take months. I heal so slowly. 😓 so when I think my skins getting better I’m like okay!!! It’ll be gone soon! Then I get 4+ in one in the most painful places and my skin has such small bumps and dark hair turn into dots after plucking hairs and honestly I’m so insecure bc of all of my skin. I’ve had acne since I was 11 I’m almost 17 now I just want it gone.
