NOTE!! I went to a functional neurologist who directed me to gargle vigorously with water for 30 seconds 3x per day to simulate the vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system. It works! Amazing benefits!

The *vagus nerve* carries an extensive range of signals from digestive system and organs to the brain and vice versa. It is the tenth cranial nerve, extending from its origin in the brainstem through the neck and the thorax down to the abdomen. It is the secondary "bodily brain" that communicates in concert with the brain to send messages and information about the "extremities" that might need repair. The vegas nerve can control the body in dire health or in coma to keep to keep the organism alive, especially the heart and the brain. It would be logical that the vegas nerve is the last nerve system to conclude before death. So it should be renamed as, *"the god nerve."*

Just a quick bit of advice. I had a heavy heatbeat for 15 years and even though it wasn't life threatening it was hard to sleep with my heart pounding all the time. My whole body would move with every heart beat. I did have a bad diet and had gained about 25-30lbs. I won't give you all the details but finally I did a full month of 18/6 intermittent fasting(which was very hard for me to do!) and magically the heavy heartbeat went completely away. My best guess is my Vagus Nerve was being over stimulated which caused me to think it was my heart when it was the nerve the whole time..the IF allowed it to calm down and go back to normal.

Eric Haynes this is a great comment thanks for sharing this! Gives me hope as I’ve been suffering this recently & IF did clam me down. I will continue doing that & also the inversion hang as Lone Wolf Therapy commented right somewhere above your comment. I have sustained a compression spine fracture T8 & that aggravates my overall pain besides this. God bless you. Be well.

@@kellikelli4413 watch a baby breathing - their ribs barely move but their stomach swells with each in breath. Copy them - put yr hand over your chest and breathe so your hand does not move ... only your belly shd move. Also the belly-breathing stimulates the organs with the mild pressure. And you calm down. If you observe someone breathing into their chest (esp the upper chest) they are in a constant state of STRESS! You can gauge the emotional state of your children by their breathing signs - if they are breathing upper chest - they need comfort and love - cos they are stressed. ps: Stress is FEAR ! Wonderful Dr. Berg! This is a great explanation of how to support our parasympathetic system - and why it is necessary for our health and well being. Your acupressure tool and stress seminar are wonderful for supporting people - but as you have so many followers it would be great if you would do a five minute - just before sleep video/audio here on youtube to help support people as they are going to sleep. Having worked with breath and formal medication with people for almost fifty years - I have found that just explaining how to do an equal breath - - or a five minute breath relaxation during a person's day is not enough - - even learning breath relaxation in individual and group sessions often is not enough until it becomes a habit as in the keto diet and intermittent fasting - - which is what led me to doing individual tapes for my patients in the eighties and putting a general instructional on youtube years back as people needed "training wheels" until their body and inind got used to the habit - - The apps available today really are not good for real in depth practice and aid - but people are so used to your voice - and trusting you - that a five minute breathing tvideo to use as they go to sleep and another one for use several times during the day - - no huge explanations - just your voice and maybe some light music - - would really be helpful to the many who trust and benefit from your advice! Keep up the wonderful work!!!

I think inversion hangs is great. I think it calms the vagus nerve as well as many other benefits. It is very meditative to hang upside down, and it provide a nice blood-flow to the head, and it feels relaxing on the whole body. As soon you do an inversion hang, you are breathing totally different. The body needs decompression from time to time. I would recommend to have a inversion setup, where you can hang low enough to have your palms at the floor. It's a great exercise. I always feel good after hanging upside down.

And when desperate clean your teeth and swallow the toothpaste. To switch off the Fight or Flight mechanism ‘draw’ circles around the ear with a smooth pen-like device (not the protruding structure) but the top edge of the ear canal, either clockwise or anticlockwise.

Deep breathe to your stomach for 5 seconds, then exhale through your nose while making a humming noise. You can do this in bed. This is great for arthritis, Crohn's Disease, or any inflammatory condition,.Helps you sleep and calms anxiety. The vagus nerve responds to the humming.

I do Yoga everyday. Breathing in and out in long breaths is the biggest part of Yoga because your breath moves the body (most people get that only after they have practicing Yoga for about 3 months). We practice long and slow breath. Yoga is the best thing to heal the body from the inside out!!! I started with a KZfaq video called Yoga Zone for beginners (Alan Finger).. he explains the moves so well u don't even have to watch the screen. Check it out! It will change your life and body.

Something a friend told me recently that really helped control my breathing is to imagine you need to keep your breathing as quiet as possible. Like when you’re playing hide and seek and don’t wanna be found. You slow your breathing and it becomes very quiet so the other person can’t hear you. The method mentioned in this video is what I’ve been doing already, but I noticed I had trouble controlling the pressure of the air coming in or going out. The hide and seek breathing technique has helped me a lot with this issue, so I thought I’d share it in case anyone else has a similar problem. God bless you Dr. Berg. I love your videos

You forgot one, being fat and overweight, it puts pressure on the nerve around the neck area, which interrupts information from the brain to the rest of the body. Also doesn’t let your brain drain the toxins from your head, which cause head aches and cranial pressure. (Feels like your head is in a vise being squeezed)

The tenth cranial nerve, or as Darwin termed it, the "pneumogastric nerve" that connects the mind, gut and hearts. Chiropractic care is one more way to help reset the Vagus nerve. If one has subluxation of the spine and those spinal nerves feed the organs, the autonomic nervous system there can be a breakdown in the energetic exchange between these bodily systems and the Vagus nerve. Thanks for the video. These are great techniques that one can practice on their own.

I like the cold water on the face idea. Some people take completely cold showers to stimulate parasympathetic response. That's too much for me. Meditation can make you worse if you have fallen into your own head. It hasn't helped Muslims in general on the whole and they are biggest, longest control group in history. Just sitting quietly for a few minutes first thing in the morning and at night realizing that you are lost can at least stop the progression of being lost in your own head as the fog will slowly lift over time. Unless you have used the VNS, your effectiveness review is questionable! I have! and it made a tremendous difference in my life. I have been living with fibro for at least 15 years (these are the years I've been aware that something is serious wrong). Last year, I had a chance to use the VN stimulator for 1 month. First off, nowadays it is an external device and the only thing invasive is the prick on your ear (UNLESS it is the devise that is implanted on epileptics for continuous use due to their condition). The rest is just a little electric shock that is barely felt. First week I just slept practically 20 hours of the day. On the second week, I asked my husband to take me shopping (haven't been able to do it for over a year). On week 3, I lusted, not just wanted, I craved, to go for a walk! Something that was completely impossible only a few weeks ago, became a reality! I went on a 3,5km that evening. From not being able to get over a 200m distance I went on to 3,5km. Those are fantastic devices and should not be written off just because you have not used them.

Wow Dr Berg. I'm hoping to implement this and see if it helps me sleep any better. I've had insomnia now for 14 yrs and these last two years are the worst and I weaned myself off of Ativan about 4 months ago but I am doing terrible I'm a 56 year-old grandma weighing 110 lb and I'm afraid this lack of sleep is going to give me a heart attack. But I remember telling my daughter that my breathing was not right and I knew that also affected my sleep and I also read up on the parasympathetic nerve and I know I need help with that. I'm like always in the fight or flight mode. And I never go into REM sleep. I hardly ever get past an hour of sleep at a time. I'm getting quite scared at this point. I would make the drive to you from here in Detroit if you take patients but I don't think you do. I need help before its too late for me. And I live alone but at this rate I'm gonna lose my job and my trailer and I don't want that to happen cuz I don't wanna be a burden on anyone. I thank God that there's someond like you to share these video's with us I just wish I could figure out everything by myself so I could sleep.

Well I think I have it back again as I'm bloated again my belly is big and now my back is hurting which I'm pretty sure its my gallbladder. When I eat pizza or breads or meats it hurts worse. So now I'm watching what I eat. There's so much more but too much to put in words. If you still see patients I would drive there because you could help me. I really need the help to get my health back. The medical Drs put me through all these tests (colonoscopy, endoscopy, hide-a-scan, cat scan, ultrasound, etc) and said they couldn't prove or disprove it was my gallbladder. They never solved my problem. It was a functional Dr that told me I had leaky gut 2 yrs ago. So I lost faith is MD's for these kinds of issue's.

So I have palpitations constantly which started in ernest 5 years ago. Had my heart checked, no real reason for it, I was told the valve is fine and whatever it was isn't life threatening. They offered to medicate me, I declined. Not too much caffeine, anxieties etc. either. A year later I discovered through an upper scope that I had a hiatal hernia. My best guess for the palpitations is that my hernia is pushing the vagus nerve causing my heart to flutter, jump and skip.
@brendakraengel2599
@brendakraengel2599 4 жыл бұрын
Many people have esophageal spasms that feel like heart skipping beats, or beating irregular. I have had "palpitations" since adolescence. They got worse under stress. I wore a halter monitor on 3 separate occasions. I was feeling as if my heart was leaping in my chest and fluttering. No evidence of any electrical irregularities. I have Fibromyalgia, which has IBS tagging along. Found out that most US "traditional" docs think esophageal spasm is rare. Not likely given the rise in gut permeability and auto immune complexes. If you've had irregularities on stress test or EKG, or wearing a halter monitor this may not pertain to you. But check it out online if you're like me and heart tests don't show anything. If you have any bowel irregularities, immune function problems, or neurotransmitter dysfunction (all related to gut), you could be experiencing esophageal spasms. Perhaps the hernia is inducing esophagus spasms? They're benign, so I hope that is the case! Best regards.

Don’t use hot water bag when treat cancer. i personally find shrink wrap works best, you can do it when you go to bed you can also apply and wrap your knees area, that also works very well for me Castor oil also very effective for burn skin when you wrap it.
