Nice work! How are you making the connections? Braid to leader? Is the leader then tied directly to the ring on the madmac?

@@YourSaltwaterGuide Thoughts on a bimini twist on the braid tied to a 130lb wind on leader with a Cat's Paw connection and then direct to the madmac?

What about using side riggers to create a lot more separation? Then you could place the madmacs at the same distance behind the boat.

Yeah, but the yanks have to troll them about 1000 km behind the boat just to get a bite! There is a lot of commercial tuna fishermen in our area, so the bluefin does not want to be close to any boat. You get close, they run away.

@ahndeux The commercial fleet caught their quota months ago. They're seeing no pressure other then the armada of weekend warriors trolling M n Ms at 15+ knots. That's whats causing them to get spooked and the pure fact they're notoriously skittish In the first place.
@ahndeux11 ай бұрын
@@scottballinger40 Its not true that they see "no pressure" now. There are still tons of cattle boats from the San Diego, Los Angeles and Oceanside fleet targeting them. Most of the long range boats are now in the San Clemente area and also at Tanner Banks. Being skittish is a learned behavior by the fish after years of being wrapped by commercial seiners. Its a survival instinct to be away from any boats. They don't suddenly change the behavior because the quota has been met. The fish can't tell a seiner from a shipping container or cattle boat. The reality is they feel every boat is a threat to their survival. The only time I seen them not be skittish is when they are wide open and chasing baits in huge schools. That has been rare. Everyone who has been chasing the boils to see them disappear as soon as you get within 150 yards tells you they are skittish and easily spooked. People are all over the 499 and the Snail behind Catalina lately and has been skunked even with the MadMacs. It seems like this year, they haven't been biting the MadMacs as well as last year. The best way to catch them is at night with a flatfall or knife jig at around 250 feet if you meter the fish. The fish learn and adapt and you need to adjust the techniques.
