I have a 11th gen intel cpu it doesn't work for me

my temperature went from 80 or even 90 to 50 degrees on apex legends, but I have a loss of 40 fps, how to adjust that?

You’re not taking into consideration games that are CPU INTENSIVE. Reducing the CPU clocking like you suggested results in worse performance overall with cpu intensive games like NEW WORLD

Sean Jones it depends on how hot overall the cpu gets. As long as you keep the cpu from throttling, you can keep bumping up the clock. Keep temps under 90 for longevity of cpu performance or keep temps under 95, 99 or 100 (depending on your cpus throttle limit) for max performance but lower longevity. For the first 2yrs of my warranty I ran at 90-92c but as my warranty is about to end I’m running at 99c max as I’m trying to get the computer to break cause I want my warranty to cover any damages so I can get a free new computer via the bestbuy warranty that I have for my razerblade15 with a 2070maxq

@@cktan8439 Yeah disabling turbo boost was a bad move on my part, I recently ran some more tests and indeed runing with turbo boost and selecting the "cool" thermal profile on dell's program has proven the best, and im not having the thermal throtling issues unless i go anywhere beyond 900p. However hyperthreading can be disabled without major issues and it will shave off arrount 5 - 8 degrees from your temps.

And after multiple tests over the years I can confirm that what helps the most with gpu throttling is disabling turboboost so your cpu doesnt get stupidly hot when intel decides to turbo boost, and actually cleaning your laptop. Thats what solved 90% of my issues with my xps15

@@gumott interesting. I have had to turn it off cause the heat issues I need a better cooler for the cpu and I'll be set. I have an F chip and can't boost from 2.9. and even after I turned it back on it won't boost again I want to test and see if i can limit the potential 4.8 to prevent overheating but still boost. I think the pc knows it will overheat and keeps it off without my control. And it's frustrating

When gaming its better to do turbo ratio limiting as detailed in this video. Otherwise (general computer usage) you can have your turbo ratios set to the max for best CPU performance.

Definitely - if undervolting & turbo ratio limiting is unavailable on your machine, you can still do GPU undervolting ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p8uBiNZlvNrdlqc.html ). Another thing you can do is if your laptop supports it, choose the maximum fan speed profile. For Dell XPS machines this is a good idea because the fan curve is really weird - we can do this with DellFanCmd but some other laptops work with applications like Speedfan, or they have OEM-provided applications for fan control.

No it won''t damage anything and make sure before you apply this that you cleaned your laptops fans and made sure your thermal paste is alright if not get it changed you can do it your self or take it to a service. As another reminded no matter what you change if your laptop is just not internally clean not even a fridge will save you

Limit the wattage to 20-25 watts instead, and the core to 4.

If your CPU only has 2 cores with a max turbo of 2.3GHz then I wouldn't recommend turbo ratio limiting. You should still however do CPU and GPU undervolt (guide links are in the video description)

The closest values i can get to what is shown in your video is 1 core (34) 2 core (32) 3 core [locked] (32) 4 core [locked] (32)

Same for me with i5 7th gen, but for me is i set the first core down 27 so the other 3 follows with it. Because when i try 32, 29, 27, 27 it started throttling

@@hairanbhvats592 maybe your expectations are very high...mobile gpus are way weaker than their similar desktop counterparts...so it maybe possible that your 1070 or even 1080 gpu is equal to desktop's 1060...if u habe followed those 3 tutorials of kevin,you are pretty much done here...u can't gain more fps u have reached the limits of your weak mobile gpu..now one thing u can do and that is buy a vaccum laptop cooler(not cooling pad).laptop vaccum cooler suck out hot air from inside of laptop and cooling pad just pushes more cool air inside...so vaccum cooler is much more efficient.u can get Opolar laptop cooler for 34$ from amazon

probably because its a mobile gpu and not desktop.. or its just your minecraft render distance turn it down and u should get more fps

As described in the GPU undervolt video, if you experience crashes you need to push up the voltage a bit on each step until you find crashing doesn't occur anymore... your undervolt curve is too much

most laptop manufacturers have disable undervolting through a bios update; you'll need to downgrade your bios to unlock you cpu

The general idea is independent of whatever turbo boost your CPU can reach, essentially we want to reduce the max CPU frequency the CPU can reach to leave more thermal headroom for the GPU. What CPU does your laptop have? Since 2.7GHz is a low turbo boost speed you might not want to turbo ratio limit any less than 2.2GHz or so. It could entirely be the case that turbo ratio limiting won't help your situation where your CPU has a relatively low turbo boost but you can experiment with the settings to see if it helps. In any case, make sure you undervolt your CPU and GPU first before attempting turbo ratio limits to ensure you're getting the maximum gaming performance you can get out of your laptop. Additionally, if your laptop has fan control capabilities you should choose the maximum fan speed when gaming.
