THANK YOU SO MUCH! Google really hid their settings well as if they don't want us to turn it off (which is probably the case) Alot of tutorials on other website are outdated.

That message "your Google Assistant is ready..." is just as annoying as the assistant itself though! The whole REASON I wanted to turn the assistant off is the fact it pops up twenty times a day via my home button, and now it will show that message instead of the ACTUAL assistant twenty times a day, which actually is even worse. And that home button shortcut it uses seems to be a thing for which there are no settings - it is a PUSHED feature, one that is forced upon the phone's user.

Go to settings -> Navigation and switch off "Swipe to open assistant app" This should help

What if you just want google to stop intercepting with your incoming calls that are not in your contact? It never use to do this. I have a Google Pixel 6. Thanks for any help you might have.

When you show us this, your phone functions 20 times easier than mine. Swiping needs 2 fingers and often won't work at all. For instance, I can call up apps, but then can't get the list to scroll right to see all the apps. Tapping anything once doesn't work. I have to tap so a green box frames the app or function, then double tap. And while I'm doing these things, the only thing keeping people from giving me odd looks is that I am clearly an going insane. I wouldn't make eye contact with me either. What a piece of excrement this app is! It has turned a phone I already didn't like into a useless paper weight. Also, there is no profile pic for me to click on, just a settings icon that doesn't lead anywhere helpful. What I'm saying is that I can't get to the setting I need to change. I think I turned it on in the first place by pressing the wrong buttons the wrong way. I mean REAL buttons, as in not using the touch screen at all. How do I turn it off that way?
