We teach you how to turn on your TV using Alexa Commands. Connecting a Fire TV cube to your TV allows you to use Alexa Commands to control your TV with voice. By saying thing like "Alexa, turn on the TV." In this video we show you how to turn on your TV with Alexa commands and how it works with the Fire TV Cube.
The Fire TV cube has Alexa built in but is also a streaming media player so it serves a dual function and will allow you to access streaming movies on Amazon, Netflix and other services but also lets you control your TV with Alexa voice commands. The Fire TV cube is a versatile streaming device loaded with features and allows you to control a wide variety of functions with Alexa commands on your TV.
Most Modern TV's with an HDMI port with will work the Fire TV cube and all of the TV's we have tested work great with the Fire TV cube voice control. The Fire TV cube connects to the TV through an HDMI port and allows for streaming content and voice control.

I have an old samsung tv too and a firestick. It worked before turning on/off with Alexa but stopped. She says ok like she is going to turn on but then nothing. She does turn it off though. So sounds like same problem. Did you find a solution? thanks

If you don t see Works with Alexa when you tap See all apps in the homescreen go to Settings - Channels & Inputs - Channels - Channel Scan - Country / Region - and switch the country to Germany, then you will see the app there, or just factory reset the tv and choose Germany, the first method will not erase all data only the channels list and order and you will still have the channels from your country, but you can backup the channel list of course, that how you can change your tv country.

Ok, so I have a problem. I have echo dot 3rd gen and lg c1. I have been trying to set up so that I can turn the tv on and off with alexa. Now I can only turn the tv off, not on, with Alexa. Help!!!

I am having the same issue. It worked before and then it quit working. Now I can only ask to shut it off. Alexa says ok when I ask her to turn it on but nothing happens. Have you figured it out yet?

@@blackcatusa7946 I was having the same problem. I was messing with it and realized if u say turn off tv again it actually turns on my TV too. If I say turn On the command doesn't work. You should try that.

@@marcosterrazas746 strangely it has started working again about about a week now. I am not sure what I did (tried all the google suggestions basically) but it now turns off/on with commands and also opens whatever app I ask it to. I definately will keep in mind what you discovered. Thanks for the response.

I have a tv with a fire stick. My Alexa turns off my tv but not on. My remote for the fire stick will turn on the tv through Alexa, but I can’t figure out how to get my Echo to turn it on. I ask. It says ok. Nothing happens.

@@jxmmy8155 I figured out the problem. My tv isn’t a smart tv. It will control the fire stick of the tv is on, including turning off the tv (because it’s the fire stick that turns it off), but it’s not capable of turning it on if it’s not a smart tv.

@@jxmmy8155 Ah ok. You can call Alexa customer service for help. The people who first answer aren’t that much help, but if you keep pushing it, they’ll transfer you to someone who will work with you.

@@FlightSim2703 thanks for the comment. I'm guessing people want to see the process in the Alexa app. I just try to do the best I can. I made this back when it wasn't as popular to connect Alexa to your TV so I could give people an idea of how they could make an older tv Alexa compatible.
