Control Your Samsung Smart TV with Amazon Alexa UPDATED!

Smart TVs can be connected and controlled with Amazon Alexa or Google Smart home assistants. No need for a remote anymore! In this video we go through the process of connecting and controlling a Samsung Smart TV with Amazon Alexa. In order to connect your Samsung Smart TV to Alexa, you will need to download the Amazon Alexa app and also need to setup an account with the SmartThings app (all this is shown in the video).

Great video. It helped me to set it up. I can turn on and off tv. Can move volume up and down but cannot plat youtube or netflix. It says you cannot turn on the video devices, to do that you need to connect it first. To enable it go to alexa settings and tv and videos and then connect. But I think l have already connected SmartThings. My tv model no is 65” Q60T QLED 4K HDR(2020) QE65Q60TAUXXU. Any advise please?

Thanks for this video! I'm using Samsung AUE60A (not pro version). As shown in the video, I did everything. But I'm able to do basic functions like turn on/turn off, volum adjust... But when I ask to open KZfaq in tv, it says "to control a video devic using voice, you need to connect it first". But iv already linked Smart things to Alexa app. Could you please suggest a work around for this problem?

Any idea if this is meant to work on the M7 Monitor? It has Alexa built-in but for some reason when linked it can only be used to turn off and change volume, It can't be used to turn on or change HDMI input. Please help.

Hi mate. I can't see the device on my Alexa app. (UK) I have a 2018 model (55 inch). What's your model number as when I spoke with a Samsung rep they said they had removed my TV from Alexa services which is crazy.

Having this same problem. Since the TV is connected to wifi, all is good when the TV is on, but when the TV is off the wifi connection is disconnected, therefore the TV cannot be controlled. I'm still searching for the workaround.

I had the same issue and did two things - on your TV, go to Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings and ensure that “Power on with mobile” is turned on The next thing I did was rename my device in the Alexa app AND Smart things app to “TV.” Now it is finally working for me to turn on through alexa

i have a question i have a echo dot and a fire tv stick and i have pairs them so i can control my tv. But i also have a other tv witch i’m using for my pc at the moment witch i’ll change soon.But i don’t understand how can my echo dot turn off and on if they are not smart tv i understand the first tv because the fire tv stick but the tv itself is not smart reason why i got the fire tv stick but i don’t have no other tv stick to my other tv and some how still turn it off and on

I have samsung ue55ru7100, i have to first turn on the TV with the rc before asking alexa to mute, vol+/-, turn off TV but that's all it will do. Saying "Alexa, turn on TV", "start netflix" or whatever doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong, or are those functions just not available in my case?

Every time my TV turns off and turns back on it disconnects from the Smart Things app. It says "offline" even though the TV is on and connected to wifi, so I have to reconnect it every time if I wanna use Alexa with it. Any tips?

I had the same issue. Hope this helps. ON YOUR TV!! go to settings-General-Network-Expert settings-enable power on with Mobile. This will prevent TV from going offline and you’ll be able to turn it on with phone or Alexa. (In Alexa make sure your device is name TV so you can easily say “turn on TV”,etc.

@@HelpCloud I have the new 8 series Samsung tv and cannot get it to change channels. Also we have our TV hooked up to the sound bar and it seems to not be able to change volume with the command. Any insight is appreciated!

Hi, my girlfriend has a problem with her Samsung and SmartThings. The issue is that if she turns the TV on with the controller then she could turn it off with the commands through echo dot. Alexa says that she could not turn on the Samsung tv model, that should check the power source or the connection. But everything’s fine with Gosund devices. Idk why. Any suggestions?

Yes, I have the same issue. I tell Alexa to turn it off, and it works. I tell Alexa turn in on, and it says Okay, but TV is still off. It's set up using wireless network. Please help.

i gave up on it because maybe my tv is too old I guess her bluetooth isn't on while it's off, so she can't start it

I did exactly the same as you suggested. The TV is turning off through Alexa but not Turning on. It says check network. Can you please help?

Hi, the connection just stops up to 39% and it's just gives me and error as well as that I think my TV doesn't have the app aither because it doesn't being up a code! Help needed please

Power the devices off for 5-10 seconds, reboot them and try again!

I am not sure on the level of integration it has with Comcast.

@@HelpCloud Related or the same problem: what is happening when I tell Alexa to change for example, to CBS or channel 433, is that the command is feeding the Search box. It is displaying the correct channel to change to, but not executing because neither the Xfinity control OK nor the Samsung ENTER button is being pressed, physically or programmatically. Ideas? A way to add the OK/ENTER? A way to bypass the Xfinity search box?
