I got say after trying the double push for months now, and watching Mantia and Briand, I think this was the video I needed. I’ll revisit the pros when I get the basic double push down.

Agreed! Those are more like "how to improve your double push" instead of a true tutorial.

Thank you for your video. I've been trying to wrap my head around this after seeing a few other skaters demonstrate it. You did a great job of illustrating the technique and your exercises break it down so well.

Very good tutorial! I grew up with ice speed skating in a different era, so mastering this “modern” technique is rather challenging for me....however you did a great job on explaining and the slomo footage is awesome. Thanks!

been looking for a tutorial to show to a friend, after i had mentioned double pushing. this is a perfect explanation. =) just one little tip i was missing: this becomes easier the faster you go, especially in the beginning. on 3x100mm freeskates myself, i feel like the extra height adds some extra leverage, once you have the technique down.
@nmushkov2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Totally agree that once you got it, it feels much better on big wheels. 🙌

Cool! It never came to my mind to train the "inside push" as a separate move 😲 that should help a lot... Thanks man 😊

@@nmushkovby now the double push comes almost automatic when skating staight 😆 first I thought I am too stupid but doing your exercise a few times per week, it just happened at some point without even trying hard 😅 very greatful to you, it makes skating fast for long so much easier 😤🙏

This is a great tutorial. One idea when I see your style: There is a good video from Joey Montia on hip movement. You don't do speed skating, so it's not fully applicable but maybe it can be useful anyway.

Thank you for your comment! I will look at your tip and the video, there is always a room for improvement! :)

This is a cool technique and I'm gonna try to practice it! Can I ask what you mean by a set up of 4x80? Is that referring to 4 wheels at a hardness of 80?
@nmushkov3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I meant 4 wheels size 80mm, higher setup will be more difficult to handle. The hardness doesn't matter so much 🙌

sorry mate but you need to see the video of Joey Mantia about the doble push cose its not a push at all its a compression of the wheels that generates the speed recommend you go and see it
@ericbernardi8116 Жыл бұрын
😅 yeah, they say that... But actually you need to push to create compression, wheels don't do that by themselfs just by rolling 🤓 Of course it's not two separate pushes... Maybe it should be called multi edge push? 😅
@nmushkov Жыл бұрын
Correct if speaking about professional speed skating technique and sure no better referrence there than Joey Mantia. The idea was to encourage people to explore the option to push or compress on the outside edges - something I see not many non professional skaters are doing.
@czakoof6 ай бұрын
You're absolutely right; it's about wheel compression and decompression. This is an under-push on this video, which is also good but just less effective. To perform the double push, you need to have a very good technique to generate power from your wheels.

i ve found it alone in the late 90s (K2 soulslide 1st gen) and many years later..someone with speed skates told me : ohhh u r double pushing with those freeskates!! me : i what?? no clue if it was an insult ort not at first.... -_-, i just thought it was more efficient when cruising to the university.....and my friends who were aggressive riders were making fun of me because i had a posh style, but in the end i was less tired than them and i was pushing 3x times less...
@ratukurniati16253 жыл бұрын
does the double push give us an extra speed?
@nmushkov3 жыл бұрын
It increases the efficiency of your push and you maintain higher speed while sparing more of your energy.
