This inline skating video covers my thoughts on my favorite frames: the Endless 90. The Endless 90 frames have multiple configurations on a single frame: 4x90 rockered and 3x110 flat. I skated (and loved) the 4x90 rockered configuration for 14 months before trying the 3x110 because I didn't think I'd like the long, flat setup. It turns out I was wrong and I do enjoy this setup! It's not my favorite configuration, but it is one I regularly skate.
I especially appreciate the ease of switching between the configurations as someone who skates both suburban and city skating. I still love my 4x90 in pretty much any conditions, but it's nice to have a bigger wheeled setup for cruising the suburbs as well.

I swap between the 4x90 and 3x110 very often on my Endless Frame. It's crazy how it fits two unique setups in one, because I skate the triskate setup completely different from the other.

Thanks for trying the 3x110 setup and for supporting Endless! You made my day. It sounds like you totally “get it”. I’ve been slowly receiving more and more reports from other Endless owners who have decided to see what the triskate setup is all about. Lots of “why didn’t I try this sooner??”. 😊 I probably skate the 3x110 setup on my Endless 90 ES about 50% of the time. For all the reasons you mentioned, it’s a ton of fun. Even though a lot of skating content on the internet is focused on tricks and skills these days, some of us are simply happy to get outside and get some good exercise in the sunshine.

Yeah, I’d imagine the majority of your customers are buying them for the rockered setup. And since rockered and flat are night-and-day, it doesn’t surprise me others have the same mindset going into it. But hey, lesson learned. It’s funny: at work I get annoyed when folks are hesitant to try something new. I always say “just be careful. You might learn something”. Yet, I slept on this setup for over a year! Looking forward to those Arc frames and thanks for stopping by!

@@rerollinginline There's just something about that 3x110 setup on the Endless 90 that doesn't feel like any other tristate. It's hard to communicate that, but once someone experiences it, most people tend to understand. Thanks again for all the great content. Arc is nearly ready...

Last week on reddit I purchased a used set of Endless 100/110 frames that came with NN Sumo 110mm wheels. I have gone on a single 17.5 mile trail skate and like them but it will be awhile before I get used to them especially since I don't use these in my daily / hilly skate. For the first mile it was a bit awkward with the longer frames / larger wheels. I almost tripped a few times but after I adjusted my feet it was all good. It wasn't the best test day being that we had a 20+ MPH wind from the west to east and the trail runs pretty much the same way.

It's good that you gave your opinion on this. I expected you to like the 3x110 setup. I find the difference between 4x90 (in my case flat) and 3x110 (in my case only 255mm length) to be marginal in terms of speed and I would even prefer 4x90 flat for the trails you have skated here due to the lower standing height especially if it's Trinity mounting.
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline Жыл бұрын
I’d like to try a trinity mount setup at some point! Yeah, I should have tried the triskate setup sooner. The fact that one setup is flat and the other is rockered definitely make them feel completely different. Truly two setups in one frame.

If you ever get a chance to try a longer triskate frame (> 270 mm) I highly recommend it. It gives you more to push against and also more stability once you achieve some speed. Is it a Rollerblade 255 mm 3x110 you have?

Hi! Please record a tutorial on how to brake on 3 wheels. At 4x80 I had to brake well. However, on 3x110 braking is a nightmare. Especially at high speed on narrow slope paths. When I'm going for the part downhill on 3x110, just decelerating or reducing speed to a safe level sometimes seems impossible to me.

I honestly didn’t give much thought to breaking in 3x110 vs 4x80/4x90. It’s all the same techniques. I wouldn’t be surprised if some amount of the challenge is a mental block because you know it’s a different setup. Is there a specific problem you’re running into?
@NullHand
@NullHand Жыл бұрын
With 3 wheels vs 4, you have fewer contact points with the ground braking, and will need to put more downforce for the same braking effect. On skinny trails, lanes, and sidewalks downhill, if the slope/speed/stopping distance combination is too demanding for a T-drag/stop, I usually rely on soul slide. This is the one forward braking stop that I can turn off mid brake if a complete stop is not necessary, or if the sliding edge catches in a bad way. If the Soul is not stopping fast enough (usually wet or slimy pavement), I can always full commit the rear wheel to a magic slide. But since some of my magic slides still drift left, I prefer not to do this in tight "lanes".

I've recently bought these frames and have been practicing descending using carving turns, since I'm surrounded by hills. I'm getting better at inducing some slide on my turns so I can link them and get down most stuff safely. But upon trying 3x100....I felt totally lost and unable to turn the skates around to achieve slower sliding turns...I guess the rocker makes all the difference. Am I the only one?
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline Жыл бұрын
The difference between the 4x90 rockered and 3x110 flat on these frames is night-and-day. And yes, the 4x90 rocker turns fare more effortlessly. But with time, you’ll be able to get used to it. You don’t have to like the 3x110 setup either. I like them both at different times. The variety is nice.

What is the advantage of the endless 90 over the standard 3x110 frame that comes on the FR1 310?
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline Жыл бұрын
“Advantage” will always be subjective with this sort of thing. But it looks like the stock FR1 310 frame wheelbase is 230mm. These Endless 90 wheelbase are 276mm. That’s a pretty significant difference and the shorter the wheelbase is, the more agile they’ll be. So the stock FR frame will be more nimble, but less stable. Of course the Endless 90 are nice because you get 4x90 rockered and 3x110 flat, which feel totally different. I bought them for the 4x90 primarily. I’d love yo try 3x110 in a shorter wheelbase to see what they feel like though. Unfortunately, it’s trial and error for what you’ll like best personally.
@endlessblading
@endlessblading Жыл бұрын
The FR 310 frame (230 mm) was actually part of the inspiration for the original Endless 90 design. I had a size 42 FR1 with that frame and while I loved the speed of 3x110, the short wheelbase felt unstable to me and made me feel extra cautious at high speed. On top of that the frame design transferred a lot of shock from bumps in the road into my feet. So I wanted to create a triskate experience that was not only fast, but also very stable especially at speed. And I wanted it to feel really comfortable…like I had mini freight trains on my feet that would carry momentum well when cruising and would dampen vibrations a bit.

For freeskate is better a flat setup or a rockered setup?
@rerollinginline
@rerollinginline Жыл бұрын
I think that’s always going to be a matter of opinion. If I were skating flat for city skating, I’d probably want 4x80 to get a shorter wheelbase and a closer to the ground feel. 4x90 rockered is kinda perfect for me. A little longer for more stability, but still rockered and so you get a lot of agility still. But everyone is different. I believe Bill Stoppard prefers 4x84 flat, for example (don’t quote me on that)

40YO man getting a rant on, so please bear with me, and share your feelings. with longer breaks, i went from mid 90s 55mm aggro skates and vert skating, (TG pro model, aka the ugliest skate ever, comfy AF), over variations of floppy, speedy 2000s 4x80mm softboots, to powerslide core next (3x) 100 recently in my late 30s, and i found my new home! sturdy as old stunt skates, despite wheels that make them as fast as a bike that trinity 3x100mm frame is short (no fear of wheel bite!!!), low and stable, an the laced hard boots provide great control and enough flex. and once the hard stock wheels break in to a bit of natural rocker, they get more spinny and slidy, and stupidly fun. (put on hyper 78A speed wheels for a more tame, quiet and smooth ride, if you just wanna cruise) there are better blades out there, if you need them, but those just absolutely hit the spot for me.
