Updating the BIOS, also known as "flashing the BIOS," replaces the BIOS firmware. When completed successfully, a BIOS update can fix or enhance aspects of a computer's performance, or provide support for newly installed hardware. However, if an incorrect update is installed or if the update process is interrupted, the motherboard can be permanently damaged, leaving the computer unable to boot. It is recommended to update your BIOS only if one or more of the following conditions apply:
The update fixes a problem with your computer.
The update enhances your computer's performance in the desired way.
You are planning to change the operating system, processor, or other feature(s), and the current BIOS version will not support the new configuration.
An HP Support Agent, or an HP support document, recommends that you download and install a specific updated BIOS.

Hi ! , My HP laptop was failed to update the bios ... So my laptop became a dead laptop . Then I went to HP center and they just suggested me to replace the motherboard (wt*!) , And I went to other service , and they just replaced the bios chipset with the old HP laptop ... And its working fine !! So , is it impacts on the performance like gaming etc ?? Mine cpu is core i5 with 7200u type - amd r5 m330 2gb

catalin catalin no. Bios restarting is like turning your pc back to its original state. Updating is erasing old bios files and updating with new

Yes, you could go that way. But if not then 1st make sure that your BIOS version is lower then the latest one, just by systeminfo command. Then go for the manual option. Thank you. Real Tech Stay Connected.

All your data will be safe. But before you start this update process make sure you have strong power connectivity. For example, you could use UPS.

@@RealTechA2Z it was not during a bios update. It was just idle. Then the charger exploded and shut down the computer. I have removed every peripheral, even took out the motherboard from the laptop and powered it alone (even without the heatsink). It appears that the cpu and gpu are heating (indication that they work??) but everything I tried resulted into one blink every 3 seconds. I even switched the cpu with one compatible that have worked in the past). Thanks for any help.

@@RafaelMartinez-jd2lr No, asi se llama un reprogramador de bios, (como un arduino) pero dedicado a cualquier integrado que traen las laptops, y fué el único con el cual puedo subir bajar etc cambiar cualquier versión te lo recomiendo, asi también se pueden reparar algunas bios con conflicto de energía que tienden a dañarse por ab o c motivo, viene con un software que se llama asprogrammer

My power shut off on my HP Pavilion All in One desktop PC, as the BIOS update was 65% complete. Now when I turn on the power I just have a black screen. Yes, Before the update you must remember these below Steps. Step 1) Make your flash drive BIOS recovery before the update.
