thankyou, i have just updated the firmware to 1.03, and for some information while i was updating the firmware, i came into several failure mid-way in the step "Run the update" of the updating software, i finally solved it by changing the execution of the software to administrator mode and compatibility mode for win 7, and finally get succeed in my 5th try. I was using Win10 64-bit version, hope this help if anyone come across the same issue and was panic during the update thinking the camera was "bricked"

Great video, I updated my sony nex- 5 from watching this video. I would like to use my camera as a web-come by it does not have the Remote pc connection on the UBB Connection setup its only Mass Storage and PTP which i am not sure what this is. any help would be apricated.

I watched some of your videos and I really like them and I was wondering about the video where you haggle with people to get 2nd hand phones for cheaper and I wouldn’t really be able to do that and I was wondering if you were able to find an iPhone X I don’t care what model for under or around 300 dollars and I would PayPal you the money just because you seem very good at haggling etc. If you can’t do this I don’t mind it’s just I need to get a cheap phone for school cos my iPhone 6s just broke, thanksssss, Finn

Great video Man, but i have one big question, I have one NEX 3 that I received from my Japanese boss as a gift... but this camera is from Japan, so im not sure if the firmware is global or shall i download it from the Japanese sony website? Also, is it possible to change the lenguage from a Japanese domestic product to English? Thanks!

Mine also from Japan (NEX 5N) with Japanese language and I was able to update the firmware with global version (Ver 1.02) and changed the language from Japanese to English using Sony-PMCA-RE. With that software you can change to 32 languages and bypass the 30 minutes recording limits, I've already checked that your NEX 3 is also compatible with it. Before using the software just be careful because this is a little hack (can brick your camera if something's wrong). Mine is working fine 100% until now without any troubles at all. run a virtual machine of windows 10 or some older version (like 7 or 8.1), I have windows 10 on my Mac only for this software haha

I tried that with the Sony NEX-VG10 and the update was aborted with error. I followed the instructions to disconnect from PC, turn off camcorder, disconnect power, then reconnect to no avail. And the camcorder wouldn't switch on, save for a red light where the SD car is inserted. I thought that I bricked the cam. Long story short, you will need to use a PC with USB 2.0 (or compatible with legacy hardware). It doesn't seem to work on USB 3.0.

Hi - I'm using a MacMini (Mac OS Catalina 15.5.5) and when I download the MacOS driver and firmware update for my NEX-6, I get the error message that says "You can’t use this version of the application “FirmwareUpdater” with this version of macOS." - do I just try and find an older macbook or PC to try and update this firmware or is there any workaround?? Some usb cables don’t support data transfer which sucks, so you’ll have to just look for another cable

U can’t, unless you downgrade your macos to some extreme old version, the best option is to run a virtual machine of windows and do it on there

I just picked up a used Nex-6 - I can't seem to update the firmware or anything it says - "you can't use this version of iOS" - I'm running Catalina 10.15.7 - I tried an older version on a MacBook I have and it says the same thing. Is there another workaround to update the firm ware?

No one seems to answer this question anywhere I've found so far...I have the NEX-5R with the same IOS issue. I was hoping they come up with something that you would be able download and use the SD card instead.😌

You’d need a very old version of Mac OS for it to actually work (probably 10.7 or something), the best solution is to run a virtual machine of windows
