I’ve the NEX 5n and NEX 7 which I use with both “Zonies,” and Vintage Rollei/Zeiss MF lenses. I love the bigger light gathering pixels of the 5n for night and low light shots, and the 7 for Video, daytime shooting, and big prints. I love the almost “Medium Format Feel” of the NEX 7’s Negatives, because the software corrects soooo much aberration, distortion, and has such wonderful HDR like Jpegs

I bought two nex5 back in the day and I agree with your recommendation for the newer 5 models. The original 5 has some annoying quirks, but for stills, I find it very usable, even 10 years later! Good to see a 2020 video discussing these cameras :)

I use a Sony NEX-7 camera which I converted to full time infrared photography... Great little camera at a great price. I love the size and the fact that it will accept all of my e-mount lenses as well as lenses converted to e-mount with adapters....

This guy's assesments are essentally made on how good these cameras are for video/vlooging. Not a word about the other relative merits of each. I have a Nex-3 and also a Nex-3N. The 3N is smaller and lighter than the 3. One of the results of that is that it doesn't sit so easily in the hands, and is rather awkward for one handed use.

Hi Fox. I just bought a Sony NEX 5t after watching your videos. Thing is: I am in Europe and it offers only a 25p Movie choice, no 24p. Is ther a workaround this European stuff to allow shooting 24fps on this camera here? Thanks.

You are going to become an excellent video presenter. Keep going! You'll be smooth and comfortable soon. On the knowledge side, you must do your homework! (For example, not understanding the difference between 1080p and 1080i is very bad, that's super low level stuff)

Do any of these compete with the Eos M? Especially with the Magic Lantern firmware, but also with the stock one. I've been thinking of the 5R and 5T over these, and trying to figure out which to get for my sister. It would be nice to keep her in the E mount so I can help her find more glass (more familiar with E mount from my A6300), but the Eos M is super appealing to me for the aftermarket firmware support, and it's not like EF glass is bad or hard to come by. Might even be better for her. IDK.

After watching *this video*, I bought a NEX-C3 and after one of the other ones I watched last week, I bought an a5100 because of you. These are both so far since I found your channel a couple weeks ago. (Definitely not because of my own GAS, this is all your fault, just to be clear.) I already had a ZV-E10 but I wanted to set up a few cameras for different things and keep them setup, rather than swapping bits all the time on a single one. I'm thrilled with all the choices, led by your guidance and good info. Thanks!

I have a NEX-5T: what type of lenses should I buy? Where can I get some second-hand lenses? I heard I could use an adapter to mount Canon lenses...would that be convenient? Is it because there are more second-hand Canon-type lenses around? (Very beginner here...sorry!) Thank you for your videos!!

Hi from Malaysia. Just bought a Used Sony Nex 5N after watching your video and it come with kit len 18-55mm with USD 168.67. Love it! But has EU firmware which doesnt have MP4 1080 60FPS. It have AVCHD 50i (50FPS) instead

Everybody hates the powerzoom 16-50, but I find it a really useful and supercompact option. Have a look at some reviews and pictures, you can pick them up cheap.

I have had a NEX-6 since it first came out but only now (during corona downtime) have I really started learning to use it. I have the kit lens and a Sony 55-210 telephoto. The Sigma is okay it's not clean wide open and the Sony version is even worse grab yourself some old Olympus manual lenses

i gave seconde life to my Sony nex 5N by pairing it with Sigma 18 50mm f2.8 and sigma 30mm F1.4, this old camera perform well with this new lenses, i m happy i downloaded same app from playmemories for my camera like Focus Bracketing, time laps and stop motion, today impossible to have this fonction in new camera

hello, a question that is eating my head, if I wanted to buy a camera to carry it all the time and take photos and videos, would a nex 5, nex 3n or nex f3 be better for me? The idea is to be able to use it as a 2nd camera together with an a6000, but always take it with you, take photos and create clips for content What can you recommend me?

I would try to get an NEX 5n. If not, the NEX 3n is probably the next best option.

your vids are great and I think the nex6 is super, I don't know if ya know this but the nex 6 was produced in sony's first Indonesian plant, way make for 6-9mo's I think before it was completely destroyed by a earthquake or something, they rebuilt the plant and made it for another year or something before it was hit by another disaster or just closed, going totally off of memory and my facts might be messed up, but it is an extremely well built camera and is absolutely relevant in 2020

Nice studio there! I've been taking pictures with NEX 5 for quite a long time (never even tried the video option on the camera, I guess I am more interested in photography) but this camera is just great. I am a fine artist not a photographer and NEX 5 provides me with more than I have ever needed. All the Sony cameras are great, but when it comes to talk about lenses Sony really is not a good choice: very high price and limited choice of options. Affordable camera body and unaffordable lens.

No you either record or take pictures. Their is software you can use with a video to pull a 1 frame shot out of a video to get a picture

I was going to buy a NEX 5N or a A5000, but I couldn't live without the viewfinder. The funny thing was, people in my area were selling the 5N and the A5000 for around the same price as the NEX 6 ($160 USD with kit lens).

It’s right above the NEX 3 and5. Higher megapixels than the NEX 5 but not as good overall as the 5n.

Nex 5 recoding in 1080 60i not 1080 30p :/ AVCHD or MP4 1440X1080 also Continuous recording is possible for approximately 29 minutes per recording. For MP4, the maximum size of a movie file is about 2 GB=20min

you are wrong about Interlaced , download a PC software for Interlacing , playback a movie at 24fps , you know like your video where i see individual images and it pains me to watch , just turn on Interlacing , BANG , its like 60fps ... the way it works is by simulating every other frame , it has a bit of artifacts , if you zoom in but in general is fantastic . And of course you can use it in post , its not BS i tell you , i can not watch movies without it . Because that 15FPS movies that everyone likes (24 fps actually ) i cant take it , its no good for me , i see every image , i have 20/20 eyesight and lightening reflexes , maybe its because of that . Maybe you see it different .
