Fusion Drive Note
If you’re upgrading a Fusion Drive equipped iMac you will need to disable the Fusion Drive first, and then, if desired, create a Fusion Drive with the new drive after the upgrade is performed. You can learn how to do that at:

Excellent video + SSD upgrade kit & thanks! Currently migrating data from a time machine backup to newly installed SSD. Things I’d emphasize: Be careful lifting the display and only lift an inch or two before disconnecting video cables. Also, good advice to reconnect the display and test operation before finally adhering the display. I tested mine after adhering the strips to the chassis but before exposing the adhesive on the display side.

If I have a Fusion Drive in my Late 2012 iMac 21.5" can I "simply" remove the Fusion Drive's two parts (SSD and HDD) and then replace the two with only a single new SSD? Will a Clone of my old Fusion Drive transfer and read properly on the new single SSD drive?

You can do this, yes. You'd need to clone the drive onto an external first, then onto the new drive, as once you physically remove either part of the Fusion drive, all data is then lost.

im getting some light bleed now in the bottom left corner after doing a SSD and RAM upgrade, any ideas on how to deal with that?

Do we no need to use intermediate SATA cable connector with temperature sensor for SSD?

Good question and difficult to find out definitively. So I opted to add it after seeing the fan spin up to max during pre-closing testing. I doubt this case will ever be opened again since it is so old and that is good because the SSD is jammed in sideways and upside down in order to fit the large sensor cable. Not very elegant. I learned the hard way from this experience to say "no" to any future requests for this upgrade!

I recently removed my hdd and fusion from a new to me late 2012 iMac 3.1 ghz, I installed a ssd Sata, can I install a blade style ssd and make it a dual boot computer
