Always test the new hard drive first cause if it doesnt work some stuff you will be SOL when it tries to transfer and just goes corrupt. Just a warning as i know he didnt mention this in video.

I've heard that some brands of Xbox 360 hard drives don't support original Xbox games. What brand is your new hard drive? Have you tried reinstalling games like Fable and Halo from scratch?

Thinking about doing this to save my Xbox 360, the hard drive is quite old and might eventually give up, and I don’t want to lose all my old save data.

Storing your save data in the cloud with Xbox Live Gold is also an option. 🤔

What's the difference from using the front usb port vs the rear port for transfer ? On Microsoft site they show the front port.

Pat Thompson Between the two sides of the USB ports I would assume the front ones are easier to use so thats probably why they said that one if they said something like "ONLY USE FRONT" then there very well could be a more darker creepy reason why or that there incompatible with the back USB ports I would see no reason for them to be incompatible unless they were damaged. But between you and me I think Microsoft always hated the back USB ports, when the Xbox 360 E was released they removed one of the back USB ports so there is something suspicious.

Couldn't you just plug in the new hard drive with the cable and use it as an external hard drive instead of replacing the old hard drive and transferring everything to the new one? Seems like it would be less hassle.

You don't need the disc if you have a connection to Xbox Live and the latest software update.

lmao so you all know the hard drive inside that grey attatchment is the same hard drive that is in a laptop computer a sata drive all you have to do is get to your local pc store and get a 500 gb or larger and remove grey cover and install larger hard drive now you have 500 gb or even 2 tarabytes if you want

Peace! Thanks. I have an issue with my Xbox 360 console where I cannot see or select storage unit when I'm in the settings? My external save device shows up, but not the console's hard drive? The console recognizes the full content, but it won't let me go into it to delete or remove. I'm at a standstill here, got any suggestions other than buying a new hard drive?

Did your DLC add ons still work? I remember after my original Xbox 360 died, I put it's hard drive in a new one and it acted like I didn't have the DLC and had to use the license transfer thing multiple times to get them to work.

do you know inside the hard drive case its just a mini drive you can take it apart and it even goes in the slim I have terra byte hds inside the case and as for transfer disc cable don't waste the money just use a usb flash drive or memory stick

I am in the process of transferring all of my data and updating my hardrive from the 20 gb to 320 gb. I was wondering if you could tell me if its possible to transfer game content (for example map packs I bought for COD Black ops II) from an xbox 360 slim to a regular xbox through this method. I have an xbox 360 slim that has all of my game data on it. Would I need a different transfer cable from the one you use. Will the data on the original xbox 360 slim hardrive be corrupted and not be usable.

My daughter has this console and needs my help to upgrade the console. Well I'm not a gamer, just a little techy, so I'm not familiar with any game console. I want to know if I have to actually replace the hard drive or if I can just use the new larger one as an external drive? And if I do replace it do we need to connect her console to the internet to get the licenses or will it just transfer from her old hard drive? Thanks! And great tutorial.

Angie Aguilar No Internet connectivity needed, AFAIK. As for using it as an external drive, I haven't tried that, but it wouldn't hurt to try, so go ahead and let us know what happens!

hello, i have a problem with transferring a profile from an Xbox to an Xbox. First off im transferring from the old Xbox 360 to a new slim. I transferred the profile through a 32GB USB but i don't have my data from my games like gears of war or call of duty. I have no idea what to do now. I downloaded the profile as well because i didn't have it on my hard drive. But even though i have it on one xbox i can download it on the other. I need help, if anyone can help me get my stuff back i'd appreciate it thanks.

AFAIK, different models of Xbox 360 require different models of hard drive.

I wanted to play dragon age inquisition, so I ordered the s=disk, but when i inserted it it says it needs a hard drive, so I ordered an external hard drive. It still didn't work, so I looked it up, and it needs an internal hard drive :( but I don't know where to install the internal hard drive for this model of the 360, since I don't have the xbox 360 slim. Is it even possible to install it internally? this turned out to be a lot of work.

The Xbox One hard drive is not meant to be user-upgradeable.

but then how would you go about formatting it so the xbox would read it as more than 16 gb? Also no its not really the same. Saying a hard drive is the same is like saying a 5400 rpm hard drive is the same as solid state. Its never the same. Yes they probably will usually use a 5400 rpm 2.5 form factor hard drive but the real problem is how to format them so they will read correctly in an xbox 360 without xbox winding up banning the account and 360 cause of supposed "illegal" mods to the system.

Mojo-Reno 78 I didn't respond quickly and I didn't pay attention but I assume you would just select copy instead of move assuming my lack of attention gave you incorrect advice I can only suggest you copy it to an external hard drive / flash drive before you transfer, so if it goes horribly wrong you have a sh*tty copied version of everything.

Those files are built into the Xbox 360 firmware. You don't need a hard drive for that feature. Upgrading the hard drive neither enables nor disables features.

Nothing, just buy a hard drive and you don't need to transfer anything.

Just buy a hard drive and slot it into the top of the unit. You will be prompted to transfer that storage to the new hard drive when it is detected.

Please respond. What do I do when it asks The destination device already saved game: saved data do you want to replace the existing item. +Dylasaurus Hex If you say Yes, it'll erase what's on the destination hard drive. Is that what you want to do? If so, then say Yes. If no, then make a backup first.

Some early Xbox 360 models were sold without a hard drive. Maybe that's what you got - it's hard to tell by color alone.

ICED CHUCKLEZ If the button is not a touch sensitive and it had no clip on hard drive it was purchased with no hard drive but they can be purchased elsewhere.
