KZfaq if a fantastic information sharing platform, as in this example. To see Roger running through this is such a treat. Hey, wondering what is the difference between the Sadowsky pickups in the SMX and other Sadowsky pickups? I thought they were all the same.. Thanks for the video.

Metro Express J pickups are true single coils (you might prefer them) and these are twin coil hum canceling

Hi! It depends on your needs and desires. Going for a preamp of our offered sets that include the Vintage Tone Control (VTC) would allow for more tonal options in passive mode. Upgrading your pickups with the noise cancelling Sadowsky J-Pickups as they are found from the MetroLine onward can free your bass from any humm that is naturally present in any classic J-Pickup design. Best is for you to figure out what of these factors is more important to you and your playing and make a decision based on that. Hope this was helpful!
